Holiday makers in Mayaro robbed at gunpoint, what is becoming of Trinidad, you can't even take your family for a holiday without being confronted by criminals and guns.As a boy we(the family)always spent August hols in Mayaro,we would talk walks in the night and you were safe from any such acts.So you can't go certain places at certain times, and now you are not allowed to have a holiday.I'm certain that the scums that carried out the robbery, are from the parts of TT where crime is a regular activity, that should be easy to work out.How sad that criminals are controlling what hard working people do and where they go and when they go,for some it's safe, for others your life is at risk.Getting robbed is now considered a blessing.

Mayaro!

Everybody in Trinidad knows who the criminals are except the police.
Trinidad police force is arguably the most corrupt and ineffective in the whole world.
In addition, civil society in Trinidad is inherently docile- no sense of community organizing and civic mindedness.

Your third point is the main point as far as I'm concerned
It's not the fault of the police, criminals or politicians any more
It's US and the "as long as I'm alright Jack" mentality
Granite, can you expand in this please? I didn't get the connection

I, m from San Fernando and not really in touch with anybody so all I know is what I read, it seems that Sando is not really a hotspot, is that true.I would love to visit Trinidad and maybe have a months holiday, see all the natural beauty in the north of Trinidad.I am totally put off by those crims robbing people at gunpoint on holiday, that don't happen in Jamaica, my friend tells me it's safer to have a holiday in Negril, she is Trini and runs a business with her Jamaican husband. It seems you need security to take a stroll after 6pm in TT.
Sorry Kay, this was meant for Andy99.
