Happy to see Chris back bit disappointed not to see Pollard back in the set up and holder should of been replaced as captain but in Marlon and Chris they got experience and two potential match winner's. Hoping to see the Bravo's, Narine and Pollard back in soon

Wow, J-Mo VC....interesting.

StumpCam 2017-08-21 09:57:08

I would think that the inclusion of Blackwood would give him valuable exposure and help to improve his game given his natural aggressive tendencies! But, who the hell am I! Going back to Chris Gayle at this point is a backward step! Why not include Darren Bravo instead? rolleyes

Awarding the captaincy is another means by which a player is guaranteed a place.

Besides...CBrowne's philosophy is simple...

If one of the better players is unavailable, their replacement will automatically come from Barbados!

Missing are Narine, both Bravos, Pollard....

conveniently replaced by KHope, Cummings, Nurse...all from Barbados

I'm shocked that Carlos Braithwaite didn't make the squad!
evil evil

For those who still don't believe that there are players around who would rather play in the CPL than go to England....
cool

Jermaine blackwood and ramdin should replace the Hopes cz shai will have no confidence after the test series he is a walking wicket

mikesiva 2017-08-21 11:10:03

In reply to NineMiles

When have you seen me calling for them to be picked?
big grin
I've been preaching the gospel that players and fans see T20 cricket as more important for a long time now...bigger crowds, more money, playing for national teams.

Why wouldn't folks choose T20 cricket first and foremost? It's so good that some players can then afford to turn down an invite to play for the West Indies....

The cricket future of the Caribbean, whether oonu like it or not, is T20 cricket, not Test cricket.
cool
ODI cricket is for the second-stringers, and Test cricket for the third-stringers.

timeless99 2017-08-21 11:14:37

Anyone who did not want the so called stars to be pick is wicked and don't have wi cricket at best interest cz look at they replacement they should not be allowed near a cricket field they have embarrassed this great region with such a rich cricket history

jacksparrow 2017-08-21 11:27:04

why drop Chase?

Totally agree with your take on Blackwood. Excellent fielder and can certainly get it off the square and is made for this format.

... because they not getting dropped for cricketing reasons and/or being replaced by a better player. Let your boys them get their FC average up to 40, then we can try again. Let us continue to lose with the "Stars" (not sure of that name), and develop the Hope's of this world.

Disclaimer: we have no stars, just players with more experience who should be selected until replacements appear.

When batsmen find it hard to average over 40 in our piss poor FC, it is a given that they will fail in the international arena. We need to uplift our standards, by better infrastructure, pitches, talent pool, quality of umpiring etc. Only then can we send players up to the highest level who can compete.
It is that basic.

The good thing about this announcement is that we are not left in the dark as usual; there is some attempt to give reasons for two people's absence from the team.

This is a big step out of the darkness.

In reply to DIEHARD Cummins? What the hell is going on? Chris Gayle has lost that bit of sharpness at his age. Some one should tell him thanks but no thanks. Where are young and up coming young spinners? We now the Dregs of cricket. Holder can not last as West indies cricket any more. He no clue how to captain a team.

We've been asking for that for the better part of 20 years...if we don't have it by now, we're not going to!

Drapsey 2017-08-21 17:41:30

Is there an insinuation here that Gayle and Samuels are sell-outs?

Let me big up the Bravos and Narine for standing up for their fellow countrymen like Pollard, who should have been captaining West Indies, in all formats, Ramdin, and Simmonds. To hear Browne talk his nonsense leads me to wonder if they didn't know Marlon Samuel would be an asset to the test team, and would definitely add value. I mean going back to the 2012 tour of England and the 2015 England tour to the west indies, Marlon Samuel was the stand out batsman in both series, and you guys had the guts to drop him from the test team? We should demand that Courtney Browne be fired from his post of destruction of West Indies Cricket, when he confirmed in his own words that he removed value from our team.

sunfish 2017-08-21 18:55:17

Blackwood should be in the squad because he's fearless. We need men who are not afraid of the opposition.

Andy99 2017-08-21 21:28:22

Why d fork the continue picking Cummins in this format?
He has no place here, no justification other than being Bajan.

And Taylor, really?

And if u see how scores his runs, you know that he wont make it in this format.

rubberd 2017-08-21 22:16:50

Here is Williams on debut for CCC, proof that having a university team helped other than bajans.

If Ja quota is full I would pick Blackwood over Powell! If it is not quota then Ambris and Hopes could not be above Blackwood who is the most consistent batsman on tour with the best strike rate. He should now gear his future towards the T/20 world

rubberd 2017-08-22 07:43:41

Blackwood on retainer and therefore has to follow the script. If he could choose he would be playing CPL after being omitted for the series against Pakistan

Would anyone be surprised if the performance of a discouraged Blackwood deteriorate on this tour after this dis # wise selectors

ducks 2017-08-22 08:24:19

My advice to this young man "just concentrate on strike rate without being as reckless as u were in the second innings" T 20 contract will come
