US open tennis
Konta knocked out in the first round. Heather watson gone too. Not a good week to be a British tennis fan.
Kuznova one set all with Venus williams. Another big name going out?

V. Kumová
Venus leading 3-0 in 3rd
Venus 5-2
In reply to Chrissy
Despite a dodgy ball toss Venus takes it at two.
In reply to mikesiva
In three - she lost the second 3-6
Looking forward to seeing Maria make it back
In reply to mikesiva
If Federer is playing then my bet is that he will win the Tournament .
I am also looking for Alexander (Shasa) Zverev to be in the Finals of the USA Men's Open . He has the necessary weapons to be not only very competitive ; but also to likely win the Tournament .
I also am a Fan of Dominic Thiem who should have a good run in the Tournament .
In reply to Chrissy
Sloane Stephens won her first round match. So too did Tsonga....
In reply to mikesiva
Yep
Osaka just beat Kerber.
In reply to Hants
For the loss of only four games!
Sharapova comes back and beats Halep.....Sharapova for the tournament!
In reply to Hants
Osaka is going to be a great player
Madison keys won her match in straight sets.
Monfils wins in straight sets. Kyrgios knocked out. The Australian has serious injury issues.
In reply to mikesiva
The US Open is immense fun. I'm not an avid Tennis fan, as some of you here, are, but since I love sports, I decided to check it out once.
I went to watch Serena v Wozniacki in the Semi-Finals a few years back. WOW. The atmosphere is electric.
I have to go back soon. After all.... I'm less than 10 miles away from Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing.....
In reply to RemainsUnknown
Definitely go!
Try to see Dustin Brown if he's still there. He is always exciting to watch. He just beat Bellucci in straight sets.
Venus Ebony Starr Williams... just dust off some young French player!!
In reply to googly1961
Zverev gawn!!
In reply to Chrissy
yup!
just so...
In reply to googly1961
just dust off some young French player!!
half her age probably!
In reply to googly1961
More upsets...Tsonga & Wozniacki beaten.
Sloane Stephens & the older zverev brother pushed all the way, but they make it through.
In reply to mikesiva
The Canadian kid... Shapovalov who took out Tsonga in straight sets beat Rafa a few weeks back is playing the tennis of his short career...
In reply to googly1961
Shapovalov is the real deal. Solid. Strong mentally and physically. But exceptionally so mentally.
He is in there to stay.

So long as he doesn't hit a ball in anger in the direction of an umpire.
Osaka wins her second round match.
Bautista Agut beat Dustin Brown in straight sets.
Monfils outlasted Donald Young in one long battle, 7-5 in the fifth....
In reply to mikesiva
Surprised Young lasted so long.
Venus 5-2 first set
In reply to Chrissy
Venus wins in straight sets. Muguruza and sloane Stephens do too.
In reply to mikesiva
Watch out for Keys later. She has a key matchup later today but looks good so far and I think she has a reasonable shot to the final 4
In reply to Kay
Ostapenko out!
Keys won't have a better chance of winning the title.
In reply to mikesiva
Nice win Nadal
In reply to Chrissy
Monfils retired injured.
Keys won her match too.
In reply to mikesiva
Sawthat - bye bye Shapovalov - straight sets for Carreno-Busta
Im rooting hard for Petra. Been through a tough time b4 Wimby and this.
In reply to Scar
And now she serves for the1st set
Tiebreaker
In reply to Star
And she wins it
Did Garbine use the F-Word after that break at 3-1?.
I swear I heard it in the formation of her mouth.
In reply to Scar
I am going for Petra too. Garbine started to have a strut and air about her, as if he's going to rule the world. Nice to see her taken down a peg.
The question I am now starting to have is whether Venus can handle Petra's power, Then, how can she negate it?
Venus doesn't fly across the court like before. She tries to conserve as much energy as possible, especially, if she thinks he can't reach a ball.
Venus must therefore improve on her first serve percentages and put more balls into Petra's body to negate those cross-court explosions and, keep herself from running like a dog after a car wheel.
Venus must be very strategic when she plays Petra. Petra will be going into that game with Venus full of confidence, even though Venus has the head-to-head advantage.
In reply to ProWI
Yeah. Vee's movements are now conservative cant blame her. Its her serve that deserts her these days in finals and semis.
Yep! I am a Petra fan cept vs Serena
In reply to Chrissy
Yess!! She is a cool young lady Chrissy. Doesnt make waves even with 2 GS.
In reply to ProWI
Venus wins her fourth round match. So too does sloane Stephens.
Pliskova wins easily. Keys is the only one who has the game to challenge her in the top half.
Keys wins her match in three sets.
Federer has another straight sets win.
In reply to mikesiva
smile
Try to see Dustin Brown if he's still there. He is always exciting to watch. He just beat Bellucci in straight sets.
The match before was Nadal... L. Mayer pushed him the 1st set.... then he (Nadal) came out for an interview with ESPN...
All in all.... good times.
Would be nice to see Rafa v Fed in the Finals.....
In reply to RemainsUnknown
They can only meet in the semis.
Carrena-Busta can win the US Open
In reply to Devin
They can only meet in the semis.
In reply to RemainsUnknown
Andy Murray withdrawing at the last minute screwed up the draw. Carreno Busta will now play Kevin Anderson for the dubious honour of being crushed in the final.
In reply to mikesiva
I heard that Andy might be out for the rest of the season due to his hip injury.
In reply to mikesiva
Anderson's serve may just win him a grand slam.
Pliskova is out!
Coco blew her away in straight sets. That's three American women in the semis.
In reply to mikesiva
...and Venus is playing the tennis of her 37 yr old life!
