You see beauty in that and I see stupidity. As the saying goes;beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
In reply to Toney
I'm betting you don't play
In reply to Toney
Toney. yuh serious bro?
A cathartic moment?
Purest form of overcoming pain...
Beauty out of a period tragedy?
Hope and a song of life in a moment of despair?
The storm has passed and I am present to play....
Fcuk, if you don't see the pathos within, you are in a very unfortunate place.
How is his beautiful statement in that moment, something like: "Harvey I will not be defeated" not GRAB you????
Nah man, is joke yuh mek....
In reply to Toney
You see it deh? The water rising, he has a kid with him and wasting time playing piano?
I would be looking for the shortest way out as fast as possible with me kid... We will play again when all danger is out of sight

And my piano still works. OB used to play a mean piano
In reply to Kay
Huh?
He and his son returned to their home and wanted to let his son know that it still worked.
Ah well you too never played the piano.
In reply to Chrissy
I agree with what You & Pelon have stated , I also believe that he was playing for himself & his Son to musically state that Their Lives are
not finished & the fact that the Piano is still working is a balm to heal the
Tragedy that has happened to ALL the people in that City .
In essence it really was not about playing great music , it was about the fact that the Piano was functioning , and both of them were alive ; and hopefully can look forward to enjoying Good Days together .

I'm stunned how the men above missed that. Worse than cavemen.
In reply to POINT
That was the precise POINT

I think he also used a classic metaphor when he said this piano needs tuning.
In reply to Chrissy
Sis, first of all, anytime you/anyone mentions OB to me, I feel a profound sense of loss. His friendship was so special. I only regret my son did not get to know him better.
OB was the piano in the turbid waters. No matter the chaos around - even when off pitch - his approach was the perfect key to life.
Of metaphors: He has much to repair, replace... but HE can....
not even an epic storm can stop the will, beauty and resilience of humanity:
"i am going to have to tune this"
Point hit it on the head:
In essence it really was not about playing great music , it was about the fact that the Piano was functioning , and both of them were alive ; and hopefully can look forward to enjoying Good Days together .
Triumph over adversity.
