Like it or not, these young people are soon going to be in charge. Their thinking on life, relationship, environment, home ownership, transportation, etc, are totally different from people in their forties and fifties. Traditional businesses are in danger, all they need is an APP to rent a car from a neighbor, rent a house out of town, etc.
I have a daughter who is a vegan and a stepson who is seriously thinking about it. More and more young people are embracing this dietary lifestyle.

Are Millennials going to turn the World on its head?
In reply to black
Soon fixed, give them a couple decades..
All generations have something new to offer are are eventually the standard bearers going forward, but reality, human compatibility, physical limitations and rationale trumps all,the millennials no different.
Anything they come up with can only be guided by the above, fundamentally they're just improving on existing standards,be it communications, transport, medicine or merchandising and all are driven by computers and the internet, the millennials are just improving on existing ideas and formats, and for all their typing and clicking prowess they owe a great debt to the baby boomers generation x and all generations before them .
When we can be teleport-ed channel material goods similarly or live healthily over 100 only then a true revolution would have taken place, the millennials are only doing what all generations have done before and that's improve on a set platform,no mysteries there.

I agree that all generations are different but these guys are bordering on radical. In the future, we are going to see sharp drop in housing and automobile sales, they are driving less and renting more.
What about the gamers? These guys are less interested in sex, that is going to lead to a sharp population drop. And quite a few of these kids are socialist, that would explain the "love affair" with Bernie "feel the Bern" Sanders.

As much as I admire how the automobile and transport have advanced I'm still not impressed by the fact that an automobile is still something with round wheels powered by a motor and limited to rolling on terrain just like the carriages of our ancient ancestors, only fundamental difference is the power source and ergonomics.
If anything I find new generations reluctant to step outside of the box,and the millennials are no different,I think the biggest difference is the ease of acquiring and sharing information and experiences aids in the extremism, something that not only affects and empowers millennials but all who have access to the tech that makes it possible.
We now have nerds of all ages capable of creating real problems from their basements or living room and not only by the genius of hacking etc,but by simply being able to put something out there in a convincing and effective way, surely beats posters and newspaper ads,but fundamentally similar.

It works, change only comes around when there is a need for it.
Technology is changing these young people the same way it's changing the world. The only difference between them and us (forty somethings and above) is, we are set in our ways and they are willing to change. For some of them, it's not change, it's the way they grew up.
when real life hits...we all want to go back to basics

I didn't say the world was going to end.

How will they sustain that diet when none of them wants to be farmers?
In reply to StumpCam
Is the demand for food diminishing?
In reply to black
No it's changing and actually increasing..and ultimately will have to change simply out of necessity,I mean just look at how the earth's population has exploded just in decades,I doubt this can be sustained, and the first major problem if this trend continues would be feeding all those people.
Mother Earth never factored us manipulating natural selection,at this rate there simply wouldn't be enough space to sustain billions and billions more people over the next hundred years.
One of the greatest ironies is that the more modern medicine succeeds the more weight the earth has to bear.
I see a future of population control programs.

That's my point, as long as there's demand, someone is going to produce it.
Mother Earth never factored us manipulating natural selection,at this rate there simply wouldn't be enough space to sustain billions and billions more people over the next hundred years.
They will have to come up with new innovative ways of doing things, along with population controls.
Sorry...they are all at the mall

Interesting comment.
Are millennials doing this out of a sense of duty to save the planet?

I said this in a thread earlier this week and took some flak. Each generation is smarter than the proceeding one because of the rate of technological and other scientific discoveries and advancements. I never heard the word vegan until I was a grown ass man and facilities like gyms were non existent then in third world countries.
I used to walk with a ton of books in my backpack to school in the days and spend very late nights in the university's library. Now all they need is a good cell phone with enough bandwidth and they can do all the research and access information anywhere anytime.

I don't know if they are smarter but they are certainly more aware and open to changes.
