Neil deGrasse Tyson: on learning

pelon 2017-09-07 10:25:05

In school, curiosity is hardly ever taught or nurtured, breeding legions of students who’ve lost all love of learning.

In school, students cheat because the system values high grades more than students value learning.

In school, we rarely learn probability & statistics, leaving us victims of our mind’s own inability to process random events.

In school, rarely do we learn how data become facts, how facts become knowledge, and how knowledge becomes wisdom.

ON Twitter
Many look at poster Blacks threads and forget that the foundation of knowledge comes out of curiosity.

Everyday we should look to step outside the box.

Cheers!
lol lol

+1,000 - well said

When I saw CDEMA's Ron Jackson on CNN last night I did smile. For years I made students in Politics of the Caribbean understand all of CARICOM's roles. They had to select any CARICOM institution outside of the politicians and complete research papers on one of the topics.

Many discovered that the media only pushes politics. CDEMA is key to recovery after a disaster.

STFU.

You are the most compartmentalized thinker on this formum...The typical educator....

Learning needs an open mind.

I am sure the notion that education is compartmentalized learning has never occurred to you.

I will give you that there is a preponderance of ignorance in that evangelical group.

please note..that American Evangelicals are not the benchmark for Christians by any stretch of the imagination.
