Does anyone in Barbados still think bigger bro is better?

Yadi 2017-09-08 15:04:26

Vivian Richards also had a bigger brother who could bat a bit you know.

Bigger bro can bat.
It's a confidence thing.
Didn't it take Shai a while to gain confidence on the international scene???

I would love to believe that. But he is really out of his depth.
Can't put bat to ball. Doesn't seem to be in. Control at all.

In reply to Gun_Play... Shai only played 13 test, when was that? So you feel we to give Kyle 13 also?

I don't know if Kyle can bat or not, but Shai was a bundle of nerves during his first Test and looked mostly out to sea before being dropped.

Kyle can bat, but his defense becomes loose, Shai is the real deal.

Shai always took some games to score runs at the regional level.he dominated his last year at u19 with 3 tons.

I hope that he and Chase get a good score tomorrow.

In reply to Walco

No. That is not it.

The idiots had him out of position.

Position 2 - 14 avg in 5 matches
Position 4 - 38.88 average in 6 matches

The guy does not open for Barbados but because we needed an opener they put a square peg in a round hole. We does really do foolishness.

When Sobers was first selected for Barbados he thought they meant his brother Gerry who most people (and Gary) thought was the better batsman.

Shai was an opening bat for bim u15, it was only after going to Uk he dropped down to 3, with his talent he should be making runs at 1, 2 3......,10, 11.
he is the real McCoy. the anointed one

actually some islanders told me that the English scouts actually wanted his older brother, they were forced into taking Viv.

We need 230 runs to win this game. Where will that runs come from

can Blackwood put down his head?
can Dowrich snap out of his funk?
can Chase survive until after lunch?
Our fortunes really lie with Shai Hope. The kid is special.

the runs is in the middle. If we have a lead of 200 we win

U15 is not international.
So it is coincidental that with enough games at 2 he magically succeeded at 4-7 but failed at 2?

tc1 2017-09-08 17:46:30

if you placed him at any position, he will dominate, he started slow for Bim, he is the 'real deal'ask Seaegg.

the difference between Shai Hope and the other batting talents is that the others have the application of students. Shai Hope have the application of a scholar.

Shai, studied in England, so he may understand the conditions, better than the other batsman
We continue to knock these youngsters, yet in this series, the English batsman, had one good test.

What did he study? And how long was he there?
I read somewhere...was it A levels?

He looks good....very very solid....uncluttered mind...recipe for big scores

I am not knocking the youngsters. I am stating facts. Conditions had nothing to do with a couple of these dismissals. Approach was the culprit. Shai works hard and smart off the field and it's showing.

THE LORD GAVRON AWARD 2014

The Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) hosted the presentation ceremony for the Lord Gavron Award 2014 at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre on Friday November 28, 2014 and the recipients were Jafari Toppin and Jonathan Drakes.

The award, which is now in its 14th year, has been presented since 2001 by Lord Robert Gavron and includes, amongst other things, a computer, cricket gear and (if possible) an attachment to a cricket club overseas.

The award is made based primarily on the cricketing exploits of the players as well as their general attitude and deportment.

Both Jafari, a graduate of Graydon Sealy Secondary and Jonathan, a graduate of Combermere, have had excellent records in the domestic competitions as well as for Barbados in the regional age –group tournaments, and Jonathan has already represented the West Indies Under-19 team in the Youth World Cup.

To date twenty-two (22) young cricketers have benefitted from this award and all of them have represented Barbados at Under-19 level. In addition, eighteen (1cool have played representative games for the West Indies Under-19, sixteen (16) have played for the Barbados senior team, twelve (12) for the West Indies “A” team and three (3) for the West Indies senior team.

The awardees since inception are as follows:

An MCC member, Gavron was a great supporter of cricket, especially in Barbados where he was an honorary life member of the Barbados Cricket Association.[8] He established the Lord Gavron Scholarship for promising young cricketers in 2001.

Recipients are presented with a trophy, a computer, cricket equipment and an attachment to a cricket club overseas or the opportunity to study at a local institution.[9] Since 2010 two players, usually winners of the award, have spent a season with Sefton Park and Wavertree cricket clubs in England.[10][11][12]

Winners of the award who have gone on to play Test cricket for the West Indies include Kemar Roach, Kraigg Brathwaite, Jason Holder, Jomel Warrican, Shane Dowrich and Shai Hope.
