Especially given Kyle's shortcomings with the bat so far.
I expect Ambris to get a look in, and Powell is increasingly looking not even as good as the previous R Powell.
Walton and or Blackwood might have been better additions to this squad than Cummins and or Bishoo

especially considering the WI's fantastic batting lineup in other formats??

EXACTLY!!!

Being less and less impressed by Powell.
I think he maybe needs more List A cricket..maybe even FC cricket.
I no longer think he should be in the ODI line up just now, Walton or Blackwood would be better fits.
And I would have Ambris in that line up instead of Bishoo..Powell on the Bench, and either Walton or Blackwood in the line up, with the other as cover on the bench.
I think Kyle and Ambris are the only reserve batsmen..Kyle is ..just Kyle...Hopeless..wasted selection given all that has happened so far
In reply to RemainsUnknown
That batting very thin, i'd move Ambris to 5, Mohammed to 6, and leave out Rovman Powell. Depending on conditions, Joseph may play for Bishoo.
Something tells me that Evin Lewis will do well with Gayle at the other end being able to guide and motivate him. And Lewis need to play his natural game, not the crap he was doing against England trying to change his natural instinct. Man made to hit ball. Just hit the ball and them like he knows to.

Gayle
Lewis
Samuels
Hope
Mohammed
Ambris
Holder
Powell
Nurse
Williams
Joseph
Cummins and Taylor is a waste pick.
True about Lewis, I made the comment during the last series, he is not someone u try to make bat thru the innings.
And Mohamed I think 6 might be to low for him, he needs to get in before the last 20 overs to build an innings, although this team could be 4 down quickly.
Samuels, I'd like WI to move on from but I dont disagree with his pick as he is one of the best limited overs bat WI have so he plays.
Powell lucky to play but as I said Cummins and Taylor are a joke, Joseph has to play ahead of them. Bishoo could get a look in too.

Is Holder smart enough to realise that Gayle/Samuels/Mohammed/Powell are all bowling options?
Holder will always go for five clear bowling options...he just don't see any other bowling options.
Given the squad..looks like Powell will have to get a look in..batting at 7
Lewis
Gayle
Samuels
Hope
Mohammed
Ambris
Powell
Holder
Nurse
Taylor
Williams
Interesting stat..Taylor has only played 2 ODIS in England previously..back in 2009 where he was our bowler of the 3 match series with 4 wickets
I think he gets a look in before Aljo who has not been that impressive in ODIs, or on tour at all so far.
Not usually a big fan of Taylor for limited overs contests, but given the squad..Williams and Nurse are 1 and 2, and Then Taylor plays ahead of Bishoo, Cummins, Aljo
why is this squad so packed with bowlers?
How many specialist bowlers they planning to play?
Do other ODI teams select more than 3 specialist bowlers? I'm of the opinion an ODI team should be 5 batsmen, 3 allrounders including wk and 3 bowlers.
In reply to DIEHARD... probably listening to me. But I wanted more bowlers for the Test Team.
In reply to natty_forever
Agreed for tests, different philosophy there..twenty wickets needed, and we have very few quality batsmen anyway..Holder is as good as a number 6 or 7 for WI, and not a good enough bowler to keep out the likes of Rampaul, Taylor, Miller
In reply to analyst-kid
He does not see many options period.
I like Holder. If I had to choose a neighbour he would be among my top three. But as a captain he does not seem like a man who understands how to use his options.
Most games boil down to a success strategy based on using your strengths against your opponent's weaknesses (while preventing your opponent from doing the same). I don't think Holder gets it.
In reply to DIEHARD
im here wondering why players like Emrit,Reifer and even Primus could be left out esp Reifer who was up there in Eng.
In reply to analyst-kid
The only option from the above is Gayle and he have not bowl in 10 years
In reply to tc1
Powell is a good death bowler. Much better than Taylor at the death.
In reply to analyst-kid
May be better all the time.
WEST INDIES CRICKET LIGHT ON BATTING! EVEN IF WE PICK 7!

Pray tell me what have Powell done to be considered a bowler or a batsman.
In reply to tc1
Tallawahs needed him to perform and he failed this CPL.
He doesn't have the goods
In reply to tc1
Dont think you will get an answer to your question. It was probably for comic relief. This is a very funny forum indeed.
In reply to DIEHARD
fair answer, his record as an ODI player is substandard, maybe he will improve
In reply to NYCGURU
I wanted the Kid to post his profile if I miss What Powell had done, maybe he will come good like Shai
Okay, do we have 6 batters with a 40odd average who have played in the "PCL" these past 3 yrs?
Would be interesting to know if they are all in this squad.
I know of one - SD Hope.
In reply to natty_forever
Chase avg 40 in 4D, not sure about 1 D set up
In reply to tc1... Yes, doubt if we have any such performers these days in ODs. So we need to revamp and come again. Suggestion, pick a team to bat 50 overs.
In reply to Andy99
These two players might just turn out to be our best bowlers....not betting on them...but you never know.
I remember one poster saying that Samuels was a "wasted pick" for the T20WC.
In reply to natty_forever\\
oh no, then we have to include Shiv and KB
In reply to tc1... no prob here.
In reply to Cleg
I see Taylor doing that but Cummins, nah not even in he own dreams is he a good international bowler.
In reply to Cleg
that was me
In reply to DIEHARD
Good of you to own up.
