Khan denies close links to AV Drilling but...
Firm praises PNM in TV ads

The owner of A&V Drilling Workover Limited, Nazim Haniff Baksh, is yet to make any public statement on a Petrotrin internal audit report that his company is linked to close to TT$100 million in overpayments from the state-owned company for "fake oil."

Several attempts to contact Baksh were unsuccessful yesterday. An employee of his Penal-based company said he was out the country and she was not sure when he would be back.

He said it would be impossible for the party to have received money and he not know of it. However, he revealed that Baksh’s daughter Allyson is a PNM senator. He also admitted that the employee in question was the PNM's candidate for Siparia in the 2015 general election.

Rowley: I called Nazim to talk

In confirming this at yesterday's post-Cabinet press conference, Rowley said he also could not wait to call him when the alleged fake oil fiasco involving Baksh's company and Petrotrin first broke.

"When I first saw the report it was shocking news. I did call him and he has denied it in very firm terms," Rowley said.

Asked whether he thought it was appropriate for him to call Baksh, the PM said "of course it was."

Calling his friend, isn't such a conflict of interest. Naw its just me friend to tip him off

On whether the swearing-in of Baksh’s daughter Allyson Baksh as a senator was a political favour, Rowley denied this saying she was "hired based on qualification."

Sure Growley sure
twisted

On whether Baksh was a financier of the People's National Movement (PNM), Rowley said he would not be surprised as many financiers of political parties were private citizens.

What a PM , oh dont ya just luv dis guy

JAMETTE TALK
PM slams Kamla on 'fake oil' disclosure...

IN a scathing attack, Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley yesterday accused Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar of “jamettry”.

Rowley slammed Persad-Bissessar for her treatment of the “fake oil” issue, coining the new term in the political lexicon to describe her behaviour.

But in response to questions, the Prime Minister also admitted he knew “Mr Baksh very well”.

Nazim Baksh is the owner of A&V Oil and Gas Ltd, the company at the centre of the Petrotrin fake oil fraud allegations.

PM’s friend demands $48M from Petrotrin

A&V Drilling and Workover Limited, owned by Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley’s friend Nazim Baksh — now at the centre of the $80M ‘fake oil’ scandal — has sent a pre-action protocol letter to state owned Petrotrin and Energy Minister Franklin Khan, warning of court action if the oil company does not cough up $48 million which AV claims it is owed.

Roget: Govt planned mass retrenchment

President of the Joint Trade Union Movement (JTUM) Ancel Roget says the trade unions, which met with Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley on Wednesday, were able stop a lot of retrenchment the Government had planned.

“And I can tell you they had quite a lot planned,” Roget said.

“I can assure you that issue is far from over,” Roget said.

Asked if he was more satisfied Wednesday than their previous meeting with Rowley on August 23, Roget said, “We will hold our breath on that. Let us see how the thing will work going forward.”

Oh boy trouble ahead

Two Oil Boom we got 90 Billion US dollars what the hell did the Government do with it.

Oil companies got 270 billion US, isn't dat a great deal plus they own all the stuff they
built.

The Citizens of T&T got screwed without a kiss.
