His innocuous performance in the first ODI was a concern for West Indies, especially given how much hope had been riding on his recall. But, on a personal level, the lack of runs won't hurt him nearly as much as the identity of the man who got him out. The war of words between Samuels and Ben Stokes has been unusually diverting as these things go, given how long it has been dragging on and how varied its iterations have been. But there was a sense watching Samuels on Tuesday that, having warned Stokes that he ought to hide on the other side of the boundary when he was batting, he became rather preoccupied with not giving it away. Maybe getting out to Stokes is the spark he needs to take his game to the next level - a cattle-prod of incentive to take the attack back to England. West Indies will certainly hope so

I empathize with Samuels, the place was freaking cold.
This fall tour is even worse than the Don Hillaire arranged winter (spring, actually) tour of the north of England when we meekly surrendered the newly won Wisden.
The BIG IDIOT has certainly done it again.

Based on reading here and on CricInfo, Tuesday was cold for cricket.
At the same time we need to remain aware of the fact that West Indies is the only cricket playing 'country' based entirely within the tropics and therefore provide no natural exposure to cold weather as a playing condition. Yes, even Zimbabwe has winters.
I'll continue to fault anyone responsible for scheduling the West Indies to play in England during the cold season.

BTW, I'm no defender of Samuels. Just think that the playing conditions are less than accommodating.

Among FMs, what about Bangladesh and Sri Lanka? Not to take away from your point regarding Windies not being familiar with colder conditions, mind you.
