The Don might just be outsmarting us all in ingratiating himself to the adulation of the religious (Christian) sector. After fagottery and other comparable 'social' ills were forced upon us by his predecessors, the religious might just try to hold on to the one they see as championing their cause.

I see this organized sitting down during the performance of the national anthem as just bull-sh*t, with absolutely no hope of accomplishing anything positive.
