Darren Bravo to fulfill BPL commitment

THE TRINIDAD and Tobago Red Force will be missing a number of experienced players including left hander Darren Bravo, when the Cricket West Indies Regional Four-Day tournament bowls off on Thursday.

Bravo, along with a number of other TT players, will compete in the Bangladesh Premier League T20 tournament from November 3 to December 12. Therefore, the Red Force will depend on a young team in the early stages of the tournament.

Some of the other TT players who will compete in the BPL are Lendl Simmons, Evin Lewis, Kevon Cooper and Sunil Narine.

That's all well and good but don't you think he should be focusing on restarting his Test career?? These T20 contracts maybe doing him more harm than good.

And we definitely need Bravo.

Clearly Darren Bravo is in no haste to restart his test career, the tour to Zim would have been a good place to get back in the grove

would be interesting to see when the BPL is over if he does indeed play in PCL

Obviously he does not plan on going to new Zealand either. What a waste. Stick a fork in him

A player repeatedly foregoes other opportunities to focus solely on West Indies cricket. And not just West Indies cricket, but the long form of the game in particular. And subsequently gets publicly berated and then ostracized without any kind of official process.

Said player then decides to look out for himself first and foremost and decides not to continue to be part of a, (to him), toxic environement.

This player is not the first and won’t be the last as long as the status quo remains entrenched.

A waste? Sure. But by whom? Stick the fork....where and in whom?

Your West Indies team has made it very clear they want no part of Darren Bravo. Why wunna playing like wunna want him in the team for?

Fool dem fool if dem think Bravo a suffer.

Bravo good to go.

Mek u money Lil B.

Big Idiots indeed

Go for it, Lil Bravo.
cool
This shows that a cricketer can make money without playing for the West Indies. And why not? It's not like there are a lot of fans of Test cricket in the Caribbean.

Lil Bravo turned up for Trinbago Knight Riders, and that should've pleased his countrymen and women.

Ray123 2017-10-23 05:58:12

Well if the trinis think he should make T20 money and not play Test cricket what do I know.

DIEHARD 2017-10-23 07:55:18

In reply to Ray123

I'm no Trini..and I think every man should do what's best for him and his family.

Him must tek bwoy up and disrespect to please you and the three old men and the dog following the Test match?

Kmt. Use u brain and not u kidney. Why should any man who is a man.. in Bravo's position..rush back to play for CWI?

jballer84 2017-10-23 07:58:16

In reply to DIEHARD

Because he is no t20 star. He's getting bottom of the barrel contracts that will be short lived. He needs to invest in himself and use international cricket to propel him to stardom. That is the only wayh he will improveand start getting the big contracts

johnjo 2017-10-23 08:05:17

Well said. I would do the same

DIEHARD 2017-10-23 08:21:43

In reply to jballer84

Do you need to be a T-20 star to make more than you would playing a Test series for West Indies? Or to be treated with more respect?

I'll answer..NO

If he performs well in the BPL..that'll be enough to keep his name in the minds of other leagues..not by scoring Test centuries.

If he never sets food on a field in the IPL, but manages to ride the bench for a few more seasons, thats enough to make more than he would playing another 5 years of Test cricket for the West Indies.

Let de man live.

I'll miss him representing the West Indies, but this is not about me and my Test cricket viewing pleasure, this is about right and wrong for me..CWI was wrong

Your Comment is correct & insightful
in my opinion . I totally agree with your assessment .

Many here bluntly refuse to understand and believe that Bravo being banned
by the Emperors violated DUE PROCESS
in essence Bravo was not accorded an
Opportunity , to explain his side of what transpired .

Like it or not , the WICBC/CWI has a
Disciplinary Committee ; and that Committee was by passed by the Emperors .

The stark fact is this :

BRAVO WAS PUNISHED TWICE

FOR THE SAME OFFENSE .

He was ordered to return to the Region . Then he was also banned from
representing the Region ; all this for the same freaking Offense .

The fact is that the tangibly demonstrated to Our Players that those in the WICBC/CWI are not interested in fostering a Good Relationship with the Players .

It is therefore Asinine then to suggest that Players should show Loyalty to the Worst International
Cricket Board in the Commonwealth .

Loyalty aint a One way Street ,btw
this matter was spawned by Cameron not knowing precisely what level of Contract Bravo had .

I will insist that the onus was on Cameron before making his statement .
The very fact that Cameron did not do that , demonstrates at least to me ,without the shadow of a doubt the utter Contempt Cameron et Al have for
the Players .

What is appalling is the fact that
the WICBC/CWI Yahoos in the Media ,
were ultra quick to castigate & condemn Bravo , as usual demonstrating the paucity of their
Interlect .

Some ppl are using Bravo as a distraction. Windies would have like to have the biggest new prospect Evin Lewis in New Zealand but he is also going BPL.
Millennials are not weighed down by their parents inhibitions and allegiances, social media has made it possible to peek behind the "iron curtain" of the board. There is no trust that they will be treated fairly by the current dispensation so they will select the option of financial security before loyalty to CWI.

How can Law develop Windies players without working on the mental aspect, thinking cricketers will not follow blindly the dictates of the board lackeys and the time will come as it did for Sammy and will come for Jason Holder. International spotlight and questions from smart journalist will mean loss of credibility pursuing an obvious path of destruction of West Indies cricketing legacy.

I beg to differ, save for the embarrassing behaviour of the president, followed by a regrettable retort from Darren Bravo which cause the stand off, he has always been a highly valued member of the team and his presence at the no. 3 slot would be welcomed moreso given the failures of the recent pass and current players in the slot, a lot of work has gone in having a resolution to the impasse, which is now behind us all, time to move pass that and press on, his return is eagerly anticipated

but it appears he is in no haste to do this.

Baje 2017-10-23 09:58:41

In my opinion, Bravo has moved on, and so should CWI. We need hungry players. Darren is well fed and fed up with CWI.
Time to take a closer look at Sunil and others..

Who moved quickly to resolve this and get him in the team?

Even the chief selector parroted the rubbish about him being ineligible..no one said, wait chief..shouldnt this go to the disciplinary committee??

CWI made it clear, they dont value him...he's acting accordingly..fork Dave cameron and his test team

Si dat...das de forking problem...they jus hungry...but not hungry for cricketing success

We going keep getting hungry players who have no option but to be fed the scraps from Dave's table

did i say someone moved quickly????

i said a lot work went into having a resolution, it is time for all of us to let it go and move on with the task at hand, either he is going to play or he is not either way cricket will continue i for one would love to have him back but if he doesn't....that ok too, i will wish him well in all endeavours and search for a reliable number 3, maybe Ambris can fill that slot...who knows

DIEHARD 2017-10-23 11:20:18

If no one moved quickly then the post u refuted stands.

CWI showed a lack of interest in him..so..let them fork off

POINT 2017-10-23 19:47:13

People need to look at the Bravo Saga
from this pertinent perspective .
Why should Bravo show Loyalty to the
Emperors when he was punished twice for the same Offence ???

Why did Bravo not get a hearing by the
WICBC/CWI Disciplinary Committee ???

I am of the opinion that if there was
amicable relations between the WICBC/CWI & The Players , most of the
animosity would vanish .

The Problem however is that those in
the governance of Cricket in the Region relish imitating those who
they inherited the Organization , and were of a different pigmentation .

This is precisely why I call them
the MIMIC MEN . It is also why they
bluntly refuse to change their Archaic Structure ; despite commissioning several Reports .

The current Structure ; gives them a
very broad Latitude , to not being
Transparent ; not being Accountable ;
and also being devoid of adhering to
Good Governance .
