Who founded Christianity?

One word that shouldn't be mentioned anywhere around Christianity.

You are conflating the discussion.

An ideology will have a founder. Nothing to do with if the content is true.

Or derivative?

How about this event to amp up my guy to GOD status.

Very malleable documentation (those 66 books) that support the actual bad guy in the story, who killed the founder and took over his movement.

Ayenmol 2017-10-28 18:57:29

Interesting how you all love to question the motives of entire ideologies but the jump all in behind a singular individual without even a hint of reserve.

THE JEWS REJECTED CHRISTIANITY WHEN THEY REJECTED THE SON OF GOD!

Jews as referred by the Scriptures , Jesus and his disciples are not a Religion but a race or physical geneology.

Jesus never ended Jewish belief, how could he when these were given directly by God?

The Jews rejected that which the entire law and prophets and the Jewish "faith" foreshadowed, CHRIST!

Mathew 21:

33 “Hear another illustration: There was a man, a landowner, who planted a vineyard and put a fence around it and dug a winepress in it and erected a tower; then he leased it to cultivators and traveled abroad. 34 When the fruit season came around, he sent his slaves to the cultivators to collect his fruit. 35 However, the cultivators took his slaves, and they beat one up, another they killed, another they stoned. 36 Again he sent other slaves, more than the first group, but they did the same to these. 37 Lastly he sent his son to them, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’ 38 On seeing the son, the cultivators said among themselves, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and get his inheritance!’ 39 So they took him and threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. 40 Therefore, when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those cultivators?” 41 They said to him: “Because they are evil, he will bring a terrible* destruction on them and will lease the vineyard to other cultivators, who will give him the fruits when they become due.”
42 Jesus said to them: “Did you never read in the Scriptures, ‘The stone that the builders rejected, this has become the chief cornerstone.* This has come from Jehovah,* and it is marvelous in our eyes’? 43 This is why I say to you, the Kingdom of God will be taken from you and be given to a nation producing its fruits. 44 Also, the person falling on this stone will be shattered. As for anyone on whom it falls, it will crush him.” 45 When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his illustrations, they knew that he was speaking about them. 46 Although they wanted to seize* him, they feared the crowds, because these regarded him as a prophet.

The term “church” was derived from the Greek and merely meant assembly; some scholars say it was an error in translation and had nothing to do with a place of worship.

This is the problem, the whole thing is just ripe with speculations.

How can you know where you are going, if you don't know where you came from?

Only if you know that then you can tell us where you are going?

Humans didn't come from monkeys, we share a common ancestry.

This is not some bullshit theory, it's a proven fact.

Humans didn't come from monkeys, we share a common ancestry.

Or a common Creator? A Car has a motor, and so does a lawn mower! Did they evolve? Or were they designed from a base concept to meet different needs?

All living things have DNA, which is the foundation for life. So what is this common ancestry based on?

Garbage reasoning meant to discredit God, by a bunch of selfabsorbed, unappreciative, unthankful, fools that are not worth the clay they came from!

No, I did not. I always said we have shared ancestry.

I clearly stated this in the DNA thread.

Even if the Sanhedrin had rejected Jesus’ denial of being Jewish....

So, tell us where and when this "denial" took place because the writer does not.

In other words, if you were advancing this article as a reliable foundation for an argument, the whole case tumbles when the writer writes nonsense but you then see nonsense and don't recognise it as nonsense.

That is so simplistic, is that how you are going to mount a defense of your religion?

Science can tell if a certain DNA belongs to a dog, cat, chicken or even what country you are from.

That’s a great question – but “Christianity” – define Christianity” – were the Catholics considered Christians? There were variations of Christianity – the puritans – the Calvinists --- the whole concept of Christianity was a very fractious one --- there is the King James version of the bible – that was the one given to the pilgrims who settled the USA --- are we dealing with Christian fantasies---since nothing has been proven ----the whole thing is still just a belief ---- so the question is ---- what is Christianity? --- is it just a fantasy? If so are you asking – when was fantasy discovered?
wink wink wink

I never advanced anything, except to post one person's point of view. I am never afraid to read or post contrarian opinions and leave it up to people smarter than myself to comment about it and refute it with a sound and enlightening argument.

So if I may open the debate to other viewpoints, I draw the MB to these two additional views of this historical event. One simple and the other more in depth from an historical Jewish perspective.

Smarter people can pinpoint how and where they defer or agree and, if they help to answer the question in the heading of this thread.

Joel 2:28-32 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

The Promise of the Spirit

28 "[a]It will come about after this
That I will pour out My Spirit on all [b]mankind;
And your sons and daughters will prophesy,
Your old men will dream dreams,
Your young men will see visions.
29 "Even on the male and female servants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days.
The Day of the Lord
30 "I will display wonders in the sky and on the earth,
Blood, fire and columns of smoke.
31 "The sun will be turned into darkness
And the moon into blood
Before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes.
32 "And it will come about that whoever calls on the name of the Lord
Will be delivered;
For on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem
There will be those who escape,
As the Lord has said,
Even among the survivors whom the Lord calls.

And then, here is one writer's definitive explanation, as he sees it.

There you are. Continue the debate.

And that proves evolution how?

Does that prove that we are a hodgepodge of chance or that each species were designed?

No, but animals like Finches and Iguanas that have been isolated from the mainland do. They have evolved to take on different characteristics than their relatives on mainland South America.

Humans that left Africa years ago have also taken on different characteristics.

I can go on and on.
