Wait they finally gave Blackwood a bowl?

Slipfeeler 2017-10-29 13:45:10

Although Blackwood is considered an effective bowler, he has been ignored during test matches as a bowler. I am now satisfied that the captain has now saw it fit to utilize all his bowling options and so far Blackwood has the lowest economy rate. Big-up to Holder and Coaches for using this additional bowling option.

Long over due. Holder should have known better since back in u19 days, Blackwood used to bowl quite a bit and sometimes even bat after Holder. Apparently he was considered somewhat of an allrounder.

Absolutely he bowls for JA, that's why we know him as an effective bowler when call upon to bowl.

I ask a serious question and you retort with a sarky ass comment. The annoying thing about that is that I have to go and waste my time pulling up stats to tell me what I already instinctively suspect. But to educate your igrunt skunt please see below:

In 72 first class matches Blackwood has bowled 684 balls (i.e. less than two over per match), taken 10 wickets at an average of 39.

First-class 72 29 684 392 10 3/44 3/44 39.20 3.43 68.4

Compare that to Chase who has bowled 5515 ball in 55 matches of first class cricket (close to 17 overs per match) and taken 91 wickets at an average of 29.

First-class 55 76 5515 2665 91 7/22 10/104 29.28 2.89 60.6

Would you classify bowling an average of 1.58 overs per match bowling for Jamaica?

Your post validates how shitty a captain Holder is ! how many of those 72 games Holder was the skipper?

LOl. I got to dig that up for you too. Pretty sure that Holder did not captain Blackwood for most of Blackwood's first class career. Tamar Lambert or whoever did not appear to think too highly of Blackwood's bowling so I don't know what basis, to use Slipfeeler's words, "Blackwood is considered an effective bowler".

Breaking down further blackie bowled 22.75 per year or 138.50 balls per year.also, these same yardies said the 49 runs Blackie made in the 2nd test were more important than the tons by KB and Shai.

anadayardi 2017-10-30 13:14:05

Blackwood barely bowls for Jamaica and if he does he bowls some off spin. He played west indies u19 as an all rounder bowling spin and even then he didn't bowl a lot of overs..I dont think his bowling was that effective. Just to note west Indies U19 then was captained by a Jamaican, Andre Creary. So I'm sure he was familar with Blackwood's bowling. Have to look up who played under 19 that year. I know Holder, Brathwaite and Dowrich were on that team.

J-Ho says that he has to earn his keep. If he can't make runs, then he should try and take wickets. Otherwise no sense having him around.
Talk nah!

You are correct, the other allrounder was Cariah and Ottley did a little bowling with Warrican as the main spinner

did Chase or Paint bowl more as U19 players than Blackwood did?

anadayardi 2017-10-30 16:42:38

In reply to camos

They did not. Maybe Blackwood was told to concentrate on his batting. He does have a double century against Guyana in u19 cricket.

Chase was an allrounder is Bim set up, he did not make 2010 WC cup team.

It was just a simple question, "Does Blackwood bowls for Jamaica?" Which requires just a simple answer, Yes! Didn't require any statistical research or chronological analysis! You guys have too much time on your hands.

Tamar had Odean Brown and Nikita Miller as strike bowlers and himself as backup. There was never any real need to bowl Blackwood much.

Khaga 2017-10-31 04:35:55

Will they finally let him bat?

You are so right. Most people dont need to go to Antartica to know its cold there. But your boy Camos' sarcastic respone and even your own assertion reminds us that there are people on this board that dabble in alternative facts SO had to go all Joy Reid on your tail.

Agreed. With a terror bowler like Tamar there aint going to be much opps for a Blackwood.
