At the time of writing, he averages all but 30. That's in the vicinity of Hooper (though he can't match Hooper in terms of batsmanship), Gus Logie, Sherwin Campbell, Icon Samuels, Blackwood et al.

He has already eclipsed: Ridley Jacobs, Ganga, Devon Smith, Barath, Deonarine, et al.

Oh and he bowls too. wink

He made good use of his reprieve. Was plumb LBW on 11, ump thought he saw inside edge.
That will be the game changer.

He really needs to move up the batting order, preferably to #6. This will make room for another bowler, spin or pace I don't care!

Blackwood is a deadwood!

Not being critical, best players take advantage.

110.1
Raza to Holder, no run, big appeal for an lbw. Not given, Zimbabwe have no reviews left. Looked too close. Seemed a wicket to me. Holder was struck on the back foot, on the back leg, pretty low and perhaps in line as well. All three reds is what the replays show. Poor Raza will be dejected. Lesson: treat reviews like bank balance - save the

If you play the game long enough, your good and bad luck will even out.

Yuh know, some people thrive under the pressure of coming in and rescuing. Gilchrist could have walked into any team's top 6, but was used to counterattack down at #7. I say leave him where he is, get Hety or someone in at #6. Big worry is that we have two spots up for grabs, Kyle Hope and Blackwood.

This team will be severely tested by Boult and Southee in NZ. So far we have done OK in spinning conditions, not convinced on any of their batting on green wickets except Shai Hope and KB.

Not sure the comparison with Gilchrist or the Aussie batting line-up is appropriate. Aus had plenty of riches in their batting, WI don't.

Holder batting at 8 seems a waste to me with the talent he has!

Agreed, we do not have a reliablle 6, and the bowling sometimes looks samey, if ONLY WI had an offspinner who's handy with the bat at 7/ 8 like a Cornwall..or a seam bowler like DJ Bravo..then that strengthens the team greatly

6- 11

Holder
Dowrich/ Hamilton/ Ramdin
Cornwall/ Bravo
Bishoo
Roach
Gabriel

I agree. But the only problem we have is that Bravo isnt interested in Test cricket and Cornwall needs to lose a bit of weight to make it at that level.

In reply to DIEHARD... I long for a wicket-keeper that can bat at 6, hence I was willing to go with The Dow. His performance behind the stumps leaves a lot to be desired. So if The Dow cannot bat at 6 then Holder has to, so that 8,9,10 and Jack can be bowlers.

Fact: Bravo would not be more penetrative than Holder in test cricket.

I think Andre Russell would be a good candidate or Primus if he gains a couple yards

Andre Russell said he does not want to play Test Cricket a long time ago and that his body does not allow him to, some of the people on here who claim to be cricket fans clearly know jack all about cricket.

Straight drive - four all along the ground. lol

Russell is not interested in tests, but I agree both would fit the bill.

In time Holder may become a more penetrative bowler. The facts say his bowling has been more effective this year.
