Bishoo bowling

Verstehen 2017-11-01 08:28:53

This is the first I've seen him bowl for any length of time in a Test, and I have to say, that a googly would do him good.

runout 2017-11-01 08:42:14

In reply to Verstehen

I agree. However if he doesn't have it then let him work with what he has. Long hop, full toss lucky ball etc. still the best WI have.

Coming from the insuLARR one.

That is funny. lol

I hope he is of strong conviction (made of sterner stuff) and not a coward.

He obviously knows a thing or two about leg spin bowling.

What better asset for a leg spinner on a turning pitch especially if it is keeping low - a googly would be worth its spin in gold.

I am sure he is listening to you.

Perhaps you should sign up as his coach. Teach him a thing or two about the art of leg spin bowling.

Pity. He could be really potent with that weapon. Especially with the turn he seems to get.

In reply to Verstehen... one googgly coming up.

Bother, any decent batsman will get accustomed to this 'lil variety leg spin bowling' especially on good pitches.

Bro. He has the googly. He doesn't have the control he would like to have of it. Hence the underutilization.

I think the over emphasis on bowling the googly has been demonstrated by his success without it

Then he needs to be a professional and get better at it, bishoo is not close to being a world class spinner and hes already 31, if not the googly then he needs more than what he's doing

runout 2017-11-01 09:33:05

In reply to conman

Perhaps he should be taking all ten wickets every inning, no?

conman 2017-11-01 09:37:17

do you think bishoo compares with the top spin bowlers in world cricket?

Larr Pullo 2017-11-01 09:44:28

In reply to Verstehen

runout and his cohort are not interested in Nogooglyshoo being the best he can be....

How much more ridiculous can some persons here get? "He has the googly but does not have the confidence to use it."

Ok...I have a circular saw but I don't have the confidence to use it, so I will use a hacksaw to cut a 2 x 4 piece of wood.

Of what use is a special tool wrapped in a tool shed?

Ridiculous.

conman 2017-11-01 09:48:37

In reply to Larr Pullo

thats whats frustrating, bishoo has issues that needs addressing yet he still has a fair record

my worry is that there is gonna be a reliance that he'll get better someday that might never come
while we can be developing a younger BETTER talent

... that's the problem why we been taking so long to improve, trying to develop players at the Test level.

The only spinner, prior to this FC season because not sure if any newbies are good, who would fit ur description would be Cornwall. He is the only one with potential as we know the issue is can he be fit enough for a Test match.

Larr Pullo 2017-11-01 10:54:00

So have the Zimbos figured out Bishoo? Somehow he doesn't seem as penetrative as in the previous test.... smile

Dukes 2017-11-01 10:59:20

Back in the day, the Dukester was a right arm wrist spinner who did indeed bowl the googly. I would say that I bowled almost one every over. I took many wickets with that ball but many of them went for 4 or 6 because of their length and/or placement.
It is somewhat disappointing that Bishoo does not have a googly that he feels confident enough to bowl frequently but what caught my eye was I saw the other day that Bishoo himself was beaten all ends up by a googly.I was a mediocre batsman but I never was bamboozled by a googly and yes I know I never played against Abdul Qadir but.........
BTW in fairness to Bishoo, how many West Indian spin bowlers have taken 100 test wickets???

Pretty much summarizes both sides of the coin.

In reply to Larr Pullo

Dunno if they've figured him out, but after the 4 wickets, of which he took one, no WI bowler has been successful either.

Larr Pullo 2017-11-01 11:10:49

Shouldn't second innings on a day four pitch be the time when you EXPECT your main spinner to be creating a bit of difficulty for the batsmen?

That is so true!!!!LOL

krickit 2017-11-01 11:31:58

Bishoo bowled the googly when he just came on the scene. Then came that punishing drop that seem to last forever. I thought the selectors had canned him permanent. But since his return it is apparent that he has not worked on that part of his game.

krickit 2017-11-01 11:33:31

But how many Windian spinners in recent times had a googly?

runout 2017-11-01 11:59:59

In reply to Larr Pullo
Not true...if the best he can be is without bowling the googly then so be it. Why chastize him for not bolwing the googly? You are just furthering your insuLARR agenda?

Cremer has a googly...how many wockets did he take? How effective was his bowling?

Carry on...I watching you.

lol lol

Despite his limitations, no googly, he is ranked #21 in the world of test cricket, with Yasir Shah as the lone leg-spinner ahead of him. And he is the highest ranked Windian bowler. That speaks volumee.

Go figure!

Have you ever heard the phrase: practice makes perfect?
Maybe Bishoo is one of those guys who doesn't like to put in the hard work to reap the rewards later.

Practice, practice, practice and then practice

Woahhh...so now you gone from questioning the man's bowling to quetioning his work ethic??? How do you think he got to where he is, by slacking off????

That is a giant leap...btw, Bishoo works hard at his game.

Look at the list in the link and you honestly think its only Bishoo that needs to put in hard work?

Series Averages!

Pay attention - Bishop's game is not in question - his googly is. The argument here is about the perfection of his googly specifically and the lack thereof.
BTW, everybody here questions his googly, even you.

Bro. I don't question his googly, or lack thereof. All I am saying is he is doing a fine job with his repertoire. Much better than the googly bowlers So if he is not comfortable bowling the googly then so be it.

No sense bowling googlies for the sake of bowling googlies. Bowl and take wickets. The argument against Bishoo not bowling the googly is old as Bishoos test career.
