Benjamin blasts Carter

analyst-kid 2017-11-03 16:02:06

disappointed in the lack of resistance of the Bajan batting esp Carter. Today's Nation

Amazing to me Pride has stuck with Carter but has dismissed Kirk Edwards who avgs higher in all formats with the bat.

Or maybe Edwards doesn't want anything to do with Pride.

I agree with you here. We made some errors in selection but this was an anomaly

Barbados was faced with the same problem as WI....a whole set of inexperienced players and noone of particular standing out. The absence of players in the WI test setup, players in the franchaise teams and players ignored like Edwards and Benn and Hinds , retirements of Smith and Fidel.

Injuries to Corbin and Philips and Chemar Holder overseas didnt help either

Then the selectors decision to leapfrog Searles,Harding and Springer to play Clarke was also baffling also.

analyst-kid 2017-11-04 10:30:15

Actually what will be the squad to Jamaica? Who will sit for Brooks?..Will Benn return and what about Harding and Springer? Do you really need three spinners?

analyst-kid 2017-11-04 10:34:37

The experienced players Stoute and Carter really did not pull weight in the last match atall..and the emerging Alleyne did not stamp his authority.

Furthermore Stoute undermining the confidence of rookies Clarke and Moseley and first match Williams ( Stoute opened instead of Moseley second innings}did not help either

I would drop Stoute for Brooks.

We need a solid second eleven and agreed the Clarke selection was baffling.
Hopefully the correction will be made for tthe next round

The chairman said they are developing an A team, the 3 Bajans in camp for the u19, Leniko Boucher, Shian and others are targeted.

We need mature players to guide these youngsters, there is room for the 30-year players in the elite division as well as the team.

No need to panic.

he said Clarke was the leading bowler last season and in the limited trails.

Young bowlers need good captains or players to inspire them.

When Pollard gave the ball to Springer or Bravo gave the ball to Searles in the CPL that inspired them and they rose to the occasion.

Carlisle Best did it in 1983 with two rookies Ricardo Elcock and Milton Small. A captain like a Sobers or a Marshall or players on the field like a Collymore or Drakes would help a rookie fastbowler...no such personnel around.

Actually Javon Searles FC record of 26 wickets @ 20.80 and 2 5fers got me wondering again why Clarke played in front him and the others...very unBajan like of the Bajan selectors...it was the father's Sylvester Clarke's greatness and legacy that had them minds tieup!

analyst-kid 2017-11-04 16:18:57

Re Searles....any fastbowler avg belong 25 and near 20 is someone not to be ignored in FC selection in regional cricket!
