Shiv Chanderpaul back in the Squad
The younger players learn a lot from Shiv especially looking at this team at the present moment it has a lot young players that have been participating in the first two matches, said the former Guyana pacer.
In reply to shivnotout
There comes a time when a person should move out of the way for the next generation of players to have their day in the spotlight. By continuing to play in the Guyana team Chanderpaul might be doing more harm than good.
In reply to dayne
Watch it dayne, Narps and the other Crabsters will be coming for you!
Methinks Crabbie does not yet have a plan B on what to do for the rest of his life.
He could try going into coaching, but do we really want to watch more crab-like batting??
In reply to dayne
But only because of age, when you are still the best batsman in the region?
In reply to dayne
why don't you write a letter to the folks at Lancashire as well?
In reply to doosra
Play him till he gets a century
In reply to FuzzyWuzzy
me doh buy he bread when the mawnin come
Wasn't Sangakkara playing county cricket and breaking a set of records just a few weeks ago?
In reply to Devin... yeah, but he not eligible to play PCL.
In reply to dayne... define harm?
In reply to Devin
Sangakkara is not blocking the path of any Sri Lankan youth by playing first class domestic cricket. Think he quit domestic FC cricket 3 years ago.
In reply to NineMiles.. neither is Shiv.
In reply to natty_forever
Clearly you don't care about Guyana cricket as I do!
I love the "Shiv is blocking a talented youth" argument. Guyana, like the other cricket playing territories in the Caribbean, continues to produce one shitabatty cricketer after another.
In reply to NineMiles... seems I care more than you. The youngsters need an Ol' Head like Shiv to learn from.
In reply to natty_forever
A young player usually learns by playing in games and practicing with his Country's best, someone can tell him every technique in the book, but unless he actually goes out and do it he will not improve, therefore by Chanderpaul continuing to prevent a young Player from being in the Squad, he is denying him experience and slowing his progress.
In reply to FuzzyWuzzy
In age
In reply to tc1
In reply to dayne
If Shiv was taking up space, like some of the other older guys, I can agree with you, but his ability to bat, and the youngsters bowl at him, is worth it.
He as a county and former West Indies batsman, add more value to the CPL, than most other 30 years old.
When we were top of the hill, most of our great, played in our regional tournament. now we have bowlers who cannot find the seam of the ball, and batsman using a stick instead of a bat
Let the youngsters earn their position in the team...damn it! This is the reason we are so damn weak....because of myopic pontificators who are guided by discriminating tendencies...in this situ it is age-discrimination. Let's leave the race issue out of it for a change.
They, who wnat the youths to play, should realize that they are not up to standard, and no amount of experience will help a lack of skills, and yet allyuh asking for them to be included...for what reason? Let them earn their keep. If a 43 yr old can keep them from making a team, will you blame the 43 yr old, or blame the youngsters????
Allyuh crucial...yeah, allyuh Talk nah!
Ninety miles is at Shiv again...I hear Mylanta (Stomach medicine) sales are increasing in the Caribbean. Mek sure allyuh full up...Shiv is increasing the heart-burn.
Yeah...allyuh talk nah!
In reply to runout
Why bring race into the post?
In reply to dayne
The Guyana Cricket board, the coach and current players are very clearly saying he is doing the team a good...yet people like you are still guessing ....why did Lancashire sign him for another year....paying him big bucks....why????
To the other USUAL suspects....you all have been calling for Shiv to go...10 years ago....even when he was still in the ICC top 5 ranking.....alyuh call is from sheer bad mind and spite...
Having someone at the other end batting in a game to share the experience in real time is as valuable as coaching in the nets..
Look at Blackwood today vs Blackwood when he started with a Shiv batting with him...
In reply to openning
Did I???
If Guyana was a rebuilding team, I could understand Shiv playing. However, Guyana will probably win this years PCL. Shiv is indeed depriving a youth of experience. There is no personal, professional, or team upside or nothing to be gained by Shiv playing PCL. He could be engaged as a coach to travel with the team if he wants to impart experience. But to drop the nineteen year old Persaud for Shiv is a travesty!!!
In reply to openning
Thanks!
In reply to Larr Pullo
Yes...they picked him to warm the bench...obviously, someone else will sit as Persaud's role as a bench warmer is over.
Yeah, allyuh talk nah!
In reply to runout
You think Persaud wasn't learning by warming the bench? Why yuh so forking dense?
BTW if they picked Shiv the only person they shoulda dropped was Tage!!!
In reply to tc1
Yes
Oh skites.... I see Shiv is continuing to BUN the haters....
HAHAHAHAHA
In reply to Larr Pullo
Dude, you are a joke...You are all too transparent.
Persaud will learn from watching a master...forget about warming the bench looking at amateurs. He can go and ask SHiv how to improve his game. IF the Guyana Cricket brains think that he is good enough to play then they should play him. But they didn't think he was any good...hence the bench warming.
yeah, allyuh talk nah!
Guyane wise-up after seening Lancashire keep Shiv to mentor the young ones...only WIndians in their warped logic will not see the benefit of having a talent like Shiv around a team.
...yeah, allyuh talk nah!
In reply to runout... simple!
In reply to Larr Pullo
Who with experience was he learning from?
Dude, Ramdin in the T&T line up, bring experience that team
Shiv is still playing cricket, he brings experience not only to the Guyana squad, but every batsman and bowler, that will play against him.
BTW, I had problem with Shiv batting at #5, after Lara retire, and still believe, his role was more suited up the order.
In reply to openning
If Guyana wanted to bank on talent, then Chandrika, yes, the pick that "replaced" Shiv in WI team to pacify the move, or Tage, should sit.
Have Persaud play...but heralding his bench-warming jsut to assail Shiv reeks.
In reply to FuzzyWuzzy
Your homie Openning is all over the place pn Shiv,i hope he take his son place. At 43 he should be home.
In reply to shivnotout
Good move, we need our best players for the Leewards clash this weekend.
In reply to openning
The youth is nineteen, just getting a taste and along comes a 43 year old to push him out the squad. Guyana is winning, they don't need Shiv as a player. Alyuh forking crazy!!!
In reply to Larr Pullo
Dude, stop your nonsense, Guyana's cricket is not the same as when you grew up, neither are any of the regional team.
My Pride needed a Benn, Fidel or Tino, with most of the Internationals away.
You cannot add all youth or average players to a squad, and expect to get results.
Shiv is the boss, when the detractors have their chance let them do as they preach. It is the man choice and right.
In reply to tc1
We all have different views base on our experience.
Wanting Shiv batting higher when Lara retired, is so similar to him playing for Guyana, with such a below average group of cricketers
In reply to jacksparrow
It is not like Shiv ain't performing, or not valued. It is just that Windians don't value him....and it is beyond the boundary!
Allyuh talk nah!
In reply to Larr Pullo
In reply to openning
How old are Benn and Fidel, your argumemt does not hold up, the muddies has an experience team winning the title for the last couple of years, Bim just added four players just pass 21, it the same.
In reply to CricketLuva4
Yea! Leewards is the team to beat!
In reply to WestDem
Chanderpaul is a quota pick...they have 3...but only two can play...hemraj and shiv...no tage.
In reply to runout
Chandrika and Leon need to be dropped!
In reply to runout
We only have 6 teams unlike England where there are 18 teams, so he should not be blocking younger potential Test players.
However he should be in team that are struggling and could use his help.
Guyana batting does need him, Trinidad this season dont(last season yeah we could've done with him).
A team like Jam or this season Barbados team would be great for him.
In reply to WestDem
Noooo...they are developing their games.
Shiv will hinder that development.
In reply to Andy99
Windwards or Jamaica can both benefit with him in their side...
In reply to WestDem
Yep, last season he would've done great for us.
In reply to Andy99
Don't follow your argument.
Shiv will be good for any team. And he is in the mix. Can't keep a good man down.
In reply to runout
Nope, think about it...think about leaving out a potential WI player to include him, not good.
In reply to Andy99
Which potential WI player Guyana have in the curent squad? Guyana has Bishoo and Hety in the curent mix, and Hety is a bench warmer. None of the Guyana guys who will sit, have given reasons to not have them sit. So how much potential you think they have or has demonstrated?
The way you fellas post is as if Guyana's talent has come to the forfront since Shiv's selection. The same players you are bigging up with talent, are the same players you would say do not qualify for selection. Gimme a break.
yeah, allyuh talk nah!
In reply to runout
You said this.
Think of a Bim team with: Paint, Alleyne, Sope, Brooks, Chase, Dow, Carter/Stoute/Carlos.
Who u gonna drop to include Shiv, all of those players can be potential WI player
Or even Guyana: 2 openers, Hety, Leon, Singh, Kemo Paul, Bramble.
Who u gonna drop?
TNT: Lewis, Jangoo, Darren B, Cariah, Polly/Nicholson, Webtser/Mohammed, Ramdin.
In reply to runout
D point is most of these guys have their careers ahead of them, they can be one good season away from the WI team, we dont know but we have to give them the opportunity.
Still there is a need for Shiv in regional but as I said its with the weaker batting teams.
In reply to Andy99
Bro...take Bim team. I mean seriously, are you losing anything having Shiv play before those guys? And they are all POTENTIAL WI players...now Shiv fulfilled that potential a long time ago...and he adds value. These guys are all bits and pieces players.
Guyana??? None of them can play ahead of Shiv talent wise.
Trinidad...chalk and cheese, no not guyana's cheesy.
yeah, allyuh talk nah.
In reply to runout
Dude...Andy's point is valid...Shiv will still be playing but he will be playing in a side that needs his batting more than Guyana...that 19 year that was dropped maybe mentally messed up fuh a while and can harm his career growth...remember he was in the squad and got dropped before getting to play a game....I also think that Motie career is getting killed and no one seem to care!
Shiv has a tendency to raise players profiles...his mere selection to Guyana's squad have Windians bigging up bits and pieces players from Guyana as potentially WI material..when in the next breath, they won't consider them for selection in the WI squad, s they are not good enough.
Gwan Shiv, your effect is already showing, even without hitting a ball.
yeah, allyuh talk nah!
In reply to WestDem
Dude, whereas I see his point, my statement is that Shiv brings more to the team. If Persaud is that mentally weak, then he should not play international cricket. It will only expose him...ala Chandrika.
In reply to runout
Persaud is a 19 year old and is probably anxious to get an opportunity to do his thing...dropping him can be potentially bad for his growth and you cannot claim if a nineteen year old is mentally weak, he should not play international cricket...this is Regional cricket not International...Chandrika is a lost cause not because of being mentally weak...he just cannot BAT!
In reply to WestDem... then nuh Chanducker shud get drop.
In reply to natty_forever
He should not even be in this squad...he is a walking wicket!
In reply to WestDem... Courtney Browne needs to get involved with regional selections.
In reply to WestDem... on that note, the regional selectors would be scouts, CB and crew would then pick the squad for each territory.
In reply to natty_forever
Like dat idea very much since the insularity begin mostly at the grassroot level....
In reply to WestDem
Bro...but you think that Shiv's inclusion will be damaging to Persaud's career? If the selectors had faith in him he would hev been in the starting line up. I am tried of backing half cooked selections.
Shiv's inclusion only underscores what the slectors think of him.
i hope he sees this as a wake up call and up his game.
In reply to WestDem
You guys need a new Hero..
In reply to runout
You should listen to WestDem...
In reply to tc1
Yet only Bishoo and Hetmyer are in the XV, and none of them setting the International stage on fire.
I'll prefer an experience Benn, Fidel and Tino, than an inexperience thirty odd age Bishop, to assist the youngsters, while the International players are away.
In reply to Larr Pullo
I hear him...and I don't agree with him.
None of these guys are lighting up the ciruit. If Shiv was blocking a proven player, or inhibiting the growth of a hot talent, then I can understand. But this is just not right to talk about Persaud's non-selection as a career killer. If you ask me, he should consider himself very fortunate to be selected to the national team. His numbers are not impressive.
In reply to runout
Why would you keep Chandrika in the squad, ahead of any batsman?
I was one of his biggest fans, inserted him in the line up, when Barath gave up cricket, he has failed at the International level and every regional season, he has played so far.
Is that the player you want, ahead of young Persaud?
In reply to openning
It is not my call to select Chandrika.
All I am saying is that even at Chandrika's dismal performance, the selectors have more faith in him than Persaud. Are they seeing something that we are not? Do they know something that we don't know?
I don't care if cChandrika or Persaud is selected...Shiv's selection should not be seen like he is taking away anyboby's position, becsause they HAVE NOT EARNED their spots in the team.
In reply to runout
You are just watching this through your Shiv/ Guyana glasses bro. You need to see big picture and how regional cricket can benefit!
In reply to WestDem
My brother, you are a much better selector than me...however, I am not seeing this through Shiv/Guyana's glasses. I am lookng at this objectively, from a regional perspective.
WI cricket has been starved of quality players playing in the domestic circuit. As a result, mediocre bowlers take wickets and looks imperious. Mediocre batsmen likewise. If you bring the talent to hone the skills of the domestic players then the entire region benefits. If you choose to keep selecting mediocrity then we are all condemned to the status quo.
Yeah...allyuh talk nah!
In reply to runout
I notice you never really answer the Motie part, why? He averages 20 in 18 games with 66 wickets, shouldnt he also be part of another team to grow? His cricket career will be killed right in front of our eyes!
In reply to WestDem
Have Motie's performance, like Sunil Ambris, select him. No point of trying to push players who are not ready for the big stage...we have seen loads of these players do the elevator on us...they go up, just to come down.
In reply to runout
Looking at these stats, what are the selectors seeing?
In reply to WestDem
you see. uncle Shiv nah even tek he guard yet.and problem start hey
In reply to openning
Beats me bro. BTW...I am agreeing with you on Chandrika.
In reply to shivnotout
I love Shiv but you uncle stifling a youth from playing when can go help out Vor and lady GahGah...
In reply to runout
That's what West was trying to tell you.
The player that should had been dropped, is Chandrika.
In reply to runout
You agree on Chandrika and is willing to say de 19 year old lucky to be selected on the national squad. Is it because the 19 year old from West Dem?
In reply to runout
How will Motie's performances select him if he is the third choice spinner in de Guyana team? Certainly ir would be better for him if he played on a team where he is first choice.
Having said that, I am not sure that given the cost and difficulty of travel in the region, the franchise system will work well. Few of the young men in the region appear to be willing to pick up lock, stock and barrel and relocate for 8 or so months per year
In reply to openning
Then its really Chandrika (and not Shiv) keeping the youth out!!!
In reply to WestDem
Bro you busting my ballzzz...Like you, I am all for youth and talent.
In reply to WestDem
"Chandrika and Leon need to be dropped!"
Want to guess them scores this weekend?
In reply to runout
another chap from Dem keeping the youth from Dem out of the game! its Dem vs Dem!
What's this I see? Leeward Islands causing champion team to start panic?
Dis too sweet
In reply to googley
Fcuk! He from Dem closest to Berbice!
In reply to WestDem
you wished he had the "Berbice influence"
In reply to aliaskid13
You are perfect for your alias handle, keep outta big people bizniz, site?
In reply to tops
Wait, you mean they still playing this weekend????
In reply to WestDem
I'm just here with some popcorn watching the bacchanal
In reply to runout
Nah runout, I don't think u r being fair to Persaud. He scored the most runs in the Guyana trial matches. It's not like he is there to warm the bench.
The selectors were wrong to send him home instead of Chandrika or Tage.
In reply to tops
You see what I am saying all along, runout juss get run out from a googly!
In reply to aliaskid13
Ok, just enjoy and ask permission to post!
In reply to WestDem
Nah, he just got clouded bcs they sent home Persaud for Shiv. If they had done the right thing and sent home either of the two mentioned he would a say the same about them as he is about the young Persaud.
In reply to WestDem
In reply to NineMiles
Me wrong? Shiv need lots of practice fuh dat Lancashire contract and who better to give him the practice, the Swedish queen or the failed revo!
In reply to WestDem
LOL... you killing me here!
In reply to WestDem
so you tell me I can't post and then u start trolling lol
man you nuh easy. but hear ya, since your people have a tiger problem maybe we can help you guys retire him for good. Watch the ride...
In reply to aliaskid13
Allyuh been trying dat fuh almost 25 years?, what is the success rate?lHe beat allyuh so bad, Dominica gave him honorary citizenship!
In reply to runout
Did you read the article? Or you missed this part?
In reply to Kay
Despite the recent performance he has very ordinary FC stats and the people who are responsible for selecting him didn't....and they are aware of his runs
Did they miss it too ? Allyuh talk nah!
In reply to runout
In reply to dayne
What a crock. if they had players good enough there would be no place for him. He plays because he is the best and age is just a number.
In reply to runout... which suggest we need a "development league" for players. This would come in the form of an Academy in each territory and lead to having the Academy league. This would then be the feeder to the senior team.
Dreaming?
In reply to natty_forever
Whey West Dem is...that fella tricky no rass...he conveniently shifted the argument that Shiv tek ova Persaud's spot to Chandrika tek ova Persaud's spot. That is a wicket googley...it turned the other way on me.
Nice job bro! Rass, me can't be too careful with you now.
yeah, allyuh talk nah!
In reply to runout
This comes down to you standing up for your fellow West Demerara's own....and in this case...Chandrika should be sent to East Coast seawall!
In reply to WestDem
But I agree with you...
yeah, allyuh talk nah!
In reply to bobby
at 45 he should be an assistant coach
In reply to tc1
I agree. Boy you just gave Shiv 2 additional years to start coaching. So that means he will continue to play for the next two years.
yeah, allyuh talk nah!
In reply to runout
why you causing trouble bro! you invest in some drug stocks, makers of heartburn meds?
In reply to googley
Bro...every portfolio must have a drug stock.
Bro, hate is a bad thing....it is served cold. Lots a people feeling the pinch.
In reply to shivnotout
All this big discussion for 5 runs? Steups.....
