West Indies ODI 5 prong lost in Australia

Andy Roberts, Michael Holding, Joel Garner, Colin Croft, Malcolm Marshall play together for the only time

Clive Lloyd continued with his four-fast-bowler strategy. Marshall was rising up the ladder, but the ascent to the top spot in world cricket would take some time.

Meanwhile, the world had to contend with the wily aggression of Roberts, the brutal pace of Holding, the relentless accuracy of Garner, and the mean hostility of Croft.

The situation was tailor-made for Allan Border. It was not the first time that he was up against such adverse situations, and it would certainly not be the last.

The West Indians were relentless: Holding and Roberts gave way to Marshall and Garner, with Croft holding up the rear, but Border and Laird were unflappable.

What followed?

Oh, how the batsmen dreaded that day!

- Croft never played another ODI.

In reply to Khaga... the best of teams can lose on a given day, however, try winning a series against that 1983 side. You're welcome!

WI played FIVE specialist batsmen Greenidge,Haynes,Richards,Bacchus,Lloyd and wkpr Murray

One Day cricket can be a lottery sometimes... Lawson,Alderman and Thompson took wickets while the gritty Laird,Hughes and Border stood firm....people keep forgetting that that AUS team was a very strong team playing in their home conditions...the WI team would have to be great to consistently get the better of them.
