The basketball players arrested in china

black 2017-11-14 08:33:04

Why, isn't there more outraged at what these players have done?

In one incident, they have managed to reinforce every negative, stereotypes of black people, especially in a monolithic country like China.

What commercial are we going to see next, after the one about a black man being placed in a washer and coming out white?

These guys were representing their country and should have been on their best behavior, but their sticky fingers could not pass up a 5 finger discount.

Because it's not surprising... cool

Very black

Maybe the outrage will only come from people who want to bow and admit that they are ashamed to be black because a black person did something wrong.

White people, as a whole, aren't ashamed to be white when the next mass shooter emerges, or the next kiddie porn lover does. So why should black people continue with this hiding our heads in shame crap?

The stereotyping shit is left to the non-blacks...and I mean non-blacks because it's not just the Whites...to enjoy because those folks will NEVER change their minds about black people. Do you think Obama and the like helped change their minds about us?

You mean on this MB? That will never happen

It's not a matter of being ashamed of being black, this behavior should be condemned for what it is.

I'll attribute this incident (actually, incidents) to culture shock.

Back home in the US everything is being guarded in some way or another, and for good reason. In China where theft is not ingrained in the culture thereby not requiring everything to be virtually tied down, these guys would be tempted to avail themselves of the offerings.

Oh, those poor unfortunate guys. I do empathize.

Huh - looks like one more reality TV set up - watch Trump play hero among black folks now.

They are morons- who goes to a strange country to rob high end stores?

Tryangle 2017-11-14 10:57:36

They go to a prestigious American university. Even the US president has attempted to engage in the situation. Affluenza of a sort will likely enable these players to come out of this unscathed.

As far as shoplifting itself, yeah nobody is in favour of it. But shoot, someone posted here the other day of a woman trying to self-check out a whole bunch of electronic stuff for three dollars. Attempted theft is common all over the place. And reprehensible in most cases.

how you figure that?

birdseye 2017-11-14 12:12:28

they are on their way home - that ws dumb what they did - they should have been allowed to spend at least a month in a China prison ---- if Trump wants to take a victory lap - i guess he earned it

here

What's so secia about this that it needs someone to get up on a soap box and condemn it?

Only way to 'condemn' that behaviour is to let them rot...ok, stew in prison. They hould have been made an example of. I have no sympathy for black people who know the stereotype and are willing to reinforce it.

Like I said on another thread - mek dem suffer.

How does this latest incident help?

JahJah 2017-11-14 17:11:49

Geeez. You want it to be that black people commit zero crime so that racists can't chat dem chat?

Good luck with that!

Since you seem to live a sheltered life, let me tell you that all it would take is for a black man to accidentally step on a cockroach for racists to cite that as yet another example of 'the negro's murderous nature'.

There is no winning with them. Stop worrying about them.

Sheltered? I am not, been holding down a 9 to 5 since I was 18.

Maybe they didn't realize it but American basketball players in China is pretty high profiled. They are being observed everywhere they go, better judgment should have been used.

And not to mention, they are at least a foot taller than the average Chinese person and Black. Kinda hard to blend in.lol

Khaga 2017-11-14 21:12:10

If the same group of players got mugged or robbed in China, we would be hearing no end of diatribe and broadbrushing of China..

No..more like how you keep advising people around here about how certain nations (in their entirety) are bad for black people as a whole..

black 2017-11-15 10:28:57

It's just shoplifting in the U.S. but it's a serious offense in those countries. In Singapore, you would be looking at a Good whipping plus years in jail.

JahJah 2017-11-15 11:02:23

The biggest deal of this whole ordeal is the fact they're going to have to the White House, bow down and kiss the ring and say "Thanks Big Daddy".

That alone should be enough shame and punishment.
