I wish 2-3 CWI budgets to send a few promising young fast bowlers and batsmen for such exposure programs every year. Investment in this part can only help WI team in the long run.

Going to these academies is not a guarantee for success

Going to schools does not guarantee success either.. But dont we all ensure our kids go to school?

Give the athletes all the chances they need to succeed. Even if 4-5 out succeed over a period of 5 years that is only good for WI cricket.

I recall Martin Nurse and Parris going to Aussie academies as u16 players

I recall even Lawson go to the academy and still come back with illegal action. That is not end all but nothing like exposure for a developing young man.

But one off instance does not guarantee success. Indian quick bowling transformed with more and more bowlers exposed to the "MRF Pace foundation".

WI should have such focused academies or send players regularly to focused developmental centers.

Agreed, the Indians have upgraded their pace bowling stock significantly as well as their fielding.

Good. But I agree that what we want to hear is about his bowling. I hope to see some good results soon. Bim may have the makings of a good up-and-coming pace attack with the likes of Harding showing improvement, Chemar and Clarke if they continue to develop.

It was good to see Harding, somewhat settling for less pace and moving the ball around instead. Very good. I have always thought that ball movement is always better than pace for seamers. Of course having the two together is the best skill set.

I know what you mean but it may have been the fact that Harding was having severe no ball problems that resulted in his drop off in pace...loss of rhythm, confidence etc.....I still like the look of Harding.... a work in progress yes but I think he could develop into a very useful bowler... he got the WI best and most experienced batsman out twice in the match.
