"Although we beat them 3-0 at the end of 2005 they showed signs of being over the worst. They fought hard and showed a lot of spirit and have a few talented young players. As long as younger players like Dwayne Bravo get the guidance they need, I don't see why the new generation cannot start to challenge properly. It is a big ask for them to regain their former glory, and they can do without the pressure of trying to match the great players of the past. But the fact is that cricket needs a strong West Indies with their flair and spark - the one thing they do is entertain."
"I have always enjoyed bowling to their batsmen. Most of them fit in to one of two categories, they are either blockers or smashers."
"Brian Lara....He is the best left-hander I have bowled to by quite a way. Like all great batsmen he gets into position that split second earlier than the rest to give himself more scoring options. Even with some big fourth innings totals to defend I've never thought a game is won with Lara at the crease......He has an unbelieveable eye and his placement sets him apart from the rest."
"The third test in Trinidad (1995) was the scariest of my life. The pitch was green and damp and something had clearly annoyed Curtly Ambrose. He was an angry man from first to last. At one point Richie Richardson had to drag him away when he squared up to Steve Waugh. I was left with a hand the size of a boxing glove after being struck. At the other end I nicked one from Courtney Walsh only for the umpire to call a no ball. According to Paul Reiffel at the non striker's end I actually cried: "Oh, no!"

You are such a Lara hater.
He is first on Murali's list, and HE is the record holder.
Incidentally, Warne rated them before: Tendulkar 1st, Lara 2nd.

dude that is subjective..ask 12 people and you will end up with 6 for one and a half dozen for the other...
however, put Lara on a stronger team and his numbers could have been even better....

Dude, all I am doing is putting things in perspective for Mr. Trini hater. Dais all.
Of course these things are subjective.
In reply to powen001 Yep! I just got the book from my cousin and he wrote on all the test nations and the teams strength, weakness and the danger player etc and he was bang on target for all.
he also emphasized on how West Indies helped him to get where he is because at that time, the Aussies thought something different was the only way of beating the mighty West Indians!

Warne rates Lara as number 2 that is obvious. Lara made Australians to drop Warne first and last time in his career. Anyone who made him to drop has obvious reasons for his choice.
