The fallout from what was deemed a malicious attempt to discredit WICB president Julian Hunte has begun and heads are beginning to roll in Antigua.
According to information reaching CaribbeanCricket.com, CEO Donald Peters has been sent on administrative leave pending an investigation of his performance and corporate services manager Tony Deyal has been fired for their roles in the brouhaha over the renovation/rental of Hunte's official WICB office in St Lucia.

Coverup!!!
Hunte must tell us how much rent he is collecting from the WICB?
Which office in a building for which the Board President is majority shareholder is worth US$6,000 a month.
This won't work.

He will meet with Onry and the board. Admits there is a letter of resignation but he has agreed to meet with him.
Says he has not accepted the resignation and will meet with Onry and then have Onry meet with the executive members of di Board and himself at the Executive meeting in three weeks.
He says he is not involved in any skulduggery and at this late stage of his life he would not get involved in any such nonsense. Says it is ridiculous.

Well " THE MORE THINGS CHANGE THE MORE THEY REMAIN THE SAME ".
In essence the WICB , like the character in Alice in Wonderland is " RUNNING VERY FAST BUT STAYING IN THE SAME PLACE ".
It is time for the Regional Governments to remove the WICB by any means necessary from the Governance of Cricket in the Region .
There is absolutely no doubt that the WICB is the biggest embarassment in the Region . I submit that is why it remains unable to recruit more than a handful of Sponsors .

in spite of the abuse to which you have been subjected, more so formerly that lately, you must not cease your campaign to have wicb "removed"
i often give up on west indies cricket as being in terminal decline, but am drawn time and again to read the news and check the scores. call me a masochist, if you may, or an unreformable addict.
so keep the faith and spread the word "WICB MUST GO"

The WICB only paid for the purchase of equipment and furniture which is standard operating procedure for offices used by WICB presidents in their home territory. The WICB has paid for local office rentals for all recent WICB presidents -- including Pat Rousseau, Wes Hall, Teddy Griffith and Ken Gordon -- and purchased equipment/furniture for those facilities.
In this case, the WICB never paid for the office renovation and the rental wasin keeping with standard operating procedure for a WICB president.
Hmmm.... so many questions and so few answers.
How much did the furniture cost? (inquiring minds viz. "I" want to know)
What is "equipment"?
(me never know dat Hunte trying out for the team

)
Dax's editorial comment - there are so many ways to hide money/stuff.
Why is it standard operating procedure?
Is this just a historical norm - or is it written in the SOP/bylaws?
Is it justified at THIS time - or we just do it because dem did it before?
ah well. decent job cc - if there are consequences(firings etc) of doing things - who knows?
when they finish with this there is a POSSIBILITY that they could get down to other matters like - who giving out match info, who knows about matchfixing, who matchfixed, who benefitted from matchfixing, which selectors getting gifts etc etc
But, I stop - before people think I changed my name to POINT!

In reply to InHindsight I notice it went from US$150,000 to EC$175,000 hmmm. Now some looking for another US$ amount. When non Finance peeps think they know finance, and when WI peeps think they know how World Business run(I aint see a World Class WI Business Model yet) and when they really are Economics geniuses(One thing Lucians understand - see a debt free Stadium), then they can talk. Till then I aint give a hoot what History and Literature and English majors have to say. So far the squeakers and underminers cyah add straight, and doh seem to know monetary exchange rates etc.
The usual peeps quick to try to find fault where there's none and thievery where theres none also. I leff dem. Hunte mus wok fi WICB fi nutting, and then let them use an office in a Bldg he renting for nutting too!! He mus foot the bill for WICB utility use and space occupancy because he is non big islander!! Never mind that the millions WICB had in years gone by disappeared under others, those not to blame.
I agree with them tho. Hunte should not seek re-election after his years done and leave the big isladers to doa as usual with the money WICB now have. Doh give he a chance!!

After learning of his appointment, I remember that stating here that Dr. Donald Peters would soon be out of there. The man is well untraveled. I remember being in Bermuda when he was appointed as VP of the Bermuda college. I was proud as a West Indian of his appointment. Soon, however, (he claimed that people were trying to get him) the press started to report negatively on him. Here are a few quotations from the Royal Gazette of Bermuda, the main newspaper:
Sometime during Dr. George Cooks tenure as president, the College lost its way. There was a good deal of talk about becoming a university college, a hybrid between a community college and a university.
The Colleges internal politics also took a turn for the worse, with clear divisions arising between Dr. Cook and Vice President Donald Peters among other problems. Many hoped with the appointment of Dr. Michael Orenduff, that the College would find its way again and would put the rancour of the past behind it.
source
The College has been at the centre of numerous, high profile race rows over the last few years.
In 1999 vice president for Academic Affairs Donald Peters was given a severe reprimand after issuing a memo to certain colleagues alleging another member of staff was a racist and white supremacist in the way she approached College reorganisation.
He left the following year before his contract was up with a $85,000 pay off after the affair affected staff morale.
more
He added: I have not yet called the international press because I'm waiting to see if I get paid or not. I would do it all again. I don't believe I have done anything wrong. The president has a lot of tolerance, but I won't take any of this crap. I have tried to do my best, but trouble follows me everywhere I go.
Dr. Peters described his resignation as symbolic and said he had already been considering what to do with his career next.
He said: I will be out for a while. I will go to another university or go home (to Dominica) and be a Prime Minister. Right now, I'm taking it easy.
Must read Donald Peters in NY race controversy
"Over the past two years, Dr. Peters has made important contributions to the campus. He had strengthened the student affairs organisation and its functions. He had developed an enrolment management plan for the campus, and he has played an important role in increasing out-of-state and international student enrolment.
"Unfortunately, Dr. Peters' behaviour the past week overshadows his contributions to the campus and, as a result, made these decisions necessary."
Dr. Peters was not available for comment last night. But he said to The Royal Gazette last week that he felt it was time the lid was raised on the issue of racism at the college.

The issue with Digicel will soon blow up and then we will find out why the board approved(did they?) the Stanford agreement and whether they took legal advice.(Stanfords agreement with C&W is the issue)
Strange that a property was rented from Hunte by Hunte for Hunte and CEO didnt know.Did the board?
Since Hunte joined Aanansen resigned(couldnt work in that environment),Paul Skinner resigned and now Deyal and Peters to go.Selectors gone.
Soon Barry Thomas should check his own contract.
Hunte cleaning up.Only men of proven integrity like cameron and shillingford will remain.

ANYONE AND EVERYONE who attempts to run west indies cricket under wicb IS BOUND TO FAIL
the reason is extremely simple. if you set out to sea in a vessel that is not seaworthy with a huge hole in the hull, you will sink.
THE STRUCTURE AND ORGANIZATION OF WICB IS PATENTLY INAPPROPRIATE FOR THE SUCCESSFUL OPERATION OF A INTERNATIONALLY COMPETITIVE, COMPLEX, SOPHISTICATED, MULTI-FACETED, MULTI-DIMENTIONAL, ENTERPRIZE.
pat rousseau et al, CAN be succesful in areas in which they are trained, have practiced and which are extremely simple by comparison to west indies cricket.
and if great men (like pat roussea!!) fail in other enterprises, like investing in a housing scheme, who the hell gives a damn. failure in a housing scheme is quite dissimilar to the failure of west indies cricket

Sorry for not replying sooner , but I have just read what you stated .
I am always going to be critical of the WICB & The Charlatans until the WICB is removed from the governance of Cricket in the Region .
I am not worried about the abuse because I know that there are many things the WICB could do to improve Cricket in the Region and make the Team competitive .
I also know that those who run around the Region proclaiming that they are Sports Journalists , have for decades given the WICB a free rein to spread its ineptness , incompetence , and downright stupidity in the Region .
What the idiots on this MB and many in the Region fail to consider is the fact that an American with little knowledge about Cricket can gather some former Players and run a more successful Tournament than the WICB who for decades have been in charge of Cricket in the Region .
As I have noted before on this MB , in recent times the WICB'S
Tournaments have been like the WICB itself , mired in controversy . Due to Teams getting to play in the Finals without playing a semi Final Match .

The fact that there are some stupid people in the Region , doesnt mean that all of us have to be stupid .
I have absolutely no doubt that any dedicated , Transparent & Accountable Entity within 2 to 3 years will do a better job than the WORST INCOMPETENT CRICKET BOARD .
The fact of the matter is than WE in the Caribbean have to get serious about everything , that is the main problem with the WICB , as I have often stated on this MB ; CRICKET IS A SERIOUS BUSINESS , AND THAT MEANS THE BUSINESS OF CRICKET MUST BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY .
This fact is lost on the WICB and the Charlatans who keep them
in the governance of Cricket in the Region , by failing to be critical of the manner in which the WICB governs Cricket in the Region .
I still maintain that if the WICB was serious about Cricket in the Region it would have had more Regional Tournaments , Meaningful Camps , Coaches , and ensure that our players get more than one warmup match before the Tour begins in earnest .
The fact that the so called Sports Journalists refuse to be critical of the WICB informs me that they know absolutely nothing about Journalism , Sport or otherwise .
