Come in Boomer. Although your boy hasn't been up to match scoring wise lately, here's other statistically greatness to brag about.

It is a sign of the general weakness of his team’s batting, as well as his defensive nature, that he so often is left unbeaten without making huge scores. It could certainly be argued West Indies are losing out on potential runs because of this; perhaps he should bat higher in the order.

What I and many others have been saying.

Where exactly should Shiv bat in the order considering all possible factors?

Why should he bat there? Can you provide any statistical evidence that batting where you believe he should realistically bat would translate to more runs for WI?

#3 or #4 would be the ideal spot for the best batsman in the side. Given the weakness of the WI openers I'd plump for #4.

Given that Shiv hasn't batted up the order in 10 years (apart from the 2nd Test with the scabs in SL by memory) there's no statistical evidence to say whether he would be a failure or a success. I am confident though that Shiv would be up to the new challenge.

Do you really think he is incapable of batting at #4?

Oh I understand that some like you are besotted with Shiv's not-outs and their effects on his average. His not-out may well decrease with a promotion up the order with a consequent negative effect on his average. However, his overall run production (runs per match) would go up which is all that counts from a West Indian team (as opposed to a selfish) perspective.

Seeing that his # 1 priority is to achieve a lifetime careeer test batting average of 50 at a minimum, the best place for shiv in the batting order is #7.

His likelihood of not outs will increase dramatically thereby achieving his ultimate goal. cool
