McCain picks Pawlenty

Dukes 2008-08-28 19:26:38

My sources tell me that John McCain has picked Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty to be his running mate.Pawlenty attends a mega-church and his pastor has access to some 30 million evangelical voters.
Stay tuned!!!

Who are my sources????

Same ones that Drudge report using.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Surya 2008-08-28 19:28:50

Weren't you the one who was touting Evan Bayh for Obama? rolleyes
May be we should exclude Tim Pawlenty from the list.

Dukes 2008-08-28 19:29:06

Just checked Drudge and dem doan have the scoop yet!!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
DUKES IS BOSS!!!!

In reply to Dukes

The same Drudge who named Evan Bayh as Obama's Veep.

It's Romney - Secret Service swept his sister's house today. That will be great news because Romney has three able bodied sons who refuse to enlist and McWar says no one who hasn't served can talk to him.

Dukes 2008-08-28 19:31:56

In reply to Surya Dat wus before dem A$$WIPES in the Bush administration encouraged Georgia to provoke the Russians by bombing South Ossetia. That particular crisis caused Obama to resort to Biden and not Bayh.

Pawlenty asswhuppings coming to the Repubs in Novemeber. Minus any catostrophic miscues by the O-man, the election should be a lock!

President Pawlenty?

Doesn't sound so good on the tongue.

You pick a V.P. who you think can become president if something happens to the President.

Pawlenty, neither in name nor experience fit that bill.

If you think Bush was bad, in his words and thoughts, McCain at 72 would be worse. Memories of Reagan in his dotage.

Dukes 2008-08-28 19:38:47

In reply to Chrissy It is a difficult choice because when you look at the electoral map McCain has to defend 14 states and his life would be much easier if he could steal a big Democratic state.

At this time the only state he could possibly steal is Michigan and Romney can help him there. However Romney has numerous liabilities not the least of which is his multiple choice approach to abortion and his previous life as a venture capitalist where he shut down companies and laid off people while making millions.

His vast wealth of over 250 million dollars in the context of McCain not knowing how many houses he has and calling rich from 5 million up is a narrative that is bad for the Republicans.

Pawlenty however may be able to bring out the Evangelicals for McCain even though he does not help McCain win Minnesota.
Pawlenty had a working class upbringing so that is helpful.

PAWLENTY IS THE MAN!!!!!!

And that’s the guy who would succeed McCain in case of a misadventure with McCain? And he has the wherewithal to be commander in chief and Obama does not? lol lol lol

jk2s 2008-08-29 10:11:46

Sounds like Palin

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, a self-styled "hockey mom" who has only been governor for a little over a year, is GOP Presidential candidate John McCain's choice for Vice President, CNBC has learned.

Guess he is really going after them Hillary supporters.

I think this is a brilliant move my McCain ..... the old guy is NOT taking this lying down. He knows this IS his LAST chance, while the Black guy DOES NOT want to LOSE - too much riding on it.

We are in for the fight of our lifetime!!!!

jk2s 2008-08-29 10:26:35

In reply to HumbleCalf

Yes it is definitely a very interesting move.
Go after the Hilary voters.

Palin considers herself a reformer as well.
She has a son who just joined the army and is supposed to go to Iraq soon.
She seems to have very high approval ratings in Alaska right now, though she is not nationally known and does not have much experience as such.

MSNBC/ NBC say Sarah Palin.

I may need to keep an eye out on your elections posts from now on!

I am an Obama fan all the way, but I would consider voting for her (if I could vote that is) if she put on a 'show' on prime time.

So McCain can no longer push the "lack of experience" label on Obama. This 44 year old woman, as accomplished as she is, is just as "green" as Obama. He and his camp will have to attack Obama/Biden in another way.

I suspect many of the Hillarites will jump ship and that is no problem. Many of the conservative Boomerites and Bunkers will also jump ship once they learn who they are now dealing with.

Let the games begin. cool

but that lady is wowwww....when will we in India get a politician like that...

JohnDoe 2008-08-29 10:50:00

In reply to DukeStreet

She would be a very surprising pick.

A couple weeks ago when Kaine seemed to be Obama's choice, right wing talk radio began attacking him as a former small town mayor and one term governor with no national or foreign affairs experience.

Now the tables look like they have turned.

hubert 2008-08-29 10:52:36

McCain just confirms his senility.
Most women vote the way their men do,so unless McCain has a hold of all Hilary women, nationwide,he is toast.
It would also mean that if he succeeds,Hilary is finished in the Democratic Party.

Isn't she linked tuh some sort of corruption investigation? De plusses for McGramps is dat she is young, she's ah woman, and she's fairly kinda sorta attractive. But McGramps kinnah tekkin de "experience" argument off de table, because if someting happens tuh Pres McGramps, dis young ting wud have tuh be Pres.

Dis nomination seems kinah desperate tuh TriniD.

jk2s 2008-08-29 11:08:41

In reply to Trinidave

Stevens is the one that is linked to the corruption charges. Since she just took office a few months ago, she'd probably not get caught in this.

The VP debate should be interesting. Biden v Palin...I wonder what would be their respective strategies

Monegan says Palin administration and first gentleman used governor's office to pressure firing first family's former brother-in-law

jk2s 2008-08-29 11:36:01

In reply to Trinidave

Thanks.

They also say Wooten, still being employed as an Alaskan State Trooper, shows there was never any pressure for Monegan to fire the trooper previously involved in a nasty divorce, and currently involved in nasty child custody battle, with Palin's younger sister.

It sounds like she was getting back at him for her younger sister.

I think that the focus would be on her inexperience rather than this "family feud"..

I am sure that by now you know that is not true. Also she is in the tank for BIG OIL.She was appointed to a job with Big Oil.

She is such a horrendous choice that I suspect she will withdraw before the election. She has to prove that she is a good campaigner.I found her voice shrill and annoying.Let us see what happens over the next two weeks.

McCain has taken a huge gamble and the fact that he did so suggests that he felt he was losing so had to change the dynamics of the race.Palin is no rising star of the GOP.Bobby Jindal is my definition of a rising star. That chap is exceptionally bright.
