Veteran cricket administrator George Sterling died yesterday after a brief illness. He was 71 years old.

Sterling served for many years as vice-president of the Jamaica Cricket Association and as a member of the West Indies Cricket Board.

He will be remembered as one of the more successful managers of Jamaica cricket teams particularly in the late 1980s when Marlon Tucker led Jamaica to successive four-day titles. He managed the West Indies Under-19 team led by Ian Bradshaw in England in 1993.
