The CEO’s Denial
Friday, October 10th, 2003In the Thursday edition of the Barbados Nation, WICB chief executive Roger Brathwaite issued a flat denial of my exclusive report that Kenny Benjamin was appointed interim assistant coach of the senior team.
On Friday, in the Jamaica Gleaner, Brathwaite suddenly isn’t denying the story anymore. Now he’s insisting that no “announcement” has been made. “I cannot make any comments regarding anything appearing on CaribbeanCricket.com, we have certainly made no announcement,” the CEO said.
In the Gleaner piece, written by the enterprising Anthony Foster, head coach Gus Logie is also quoted: “I was asked my opinion on a few individuals, and I gave them three individuals (names). They made a decision and I concur.”
Oh, what a la la.
