Just days after the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) changed the regional selection panel, they continued their house cleaning yesterday by removing Ottis Gibson as coach of the regional side.
The former all-rounder, who played two Tests and 15 One-Day internationals for the Windies, served England as bowling coach from late 2007 until he came back home to take charge of the regional unit in February 2010.
Information reaching the T&T Guardian is that he was likely to be replaced by for the former South Africa and Australia coach Mickey Arthur. The South African, Arthur recently finished his duties with the Jamaica Tallawahs in the Limacol Caribbean Premier League T20 tournament.

WICB Cricket operations director Richard Pybus met with Gibson after a string of poor performances from the regional side. The two did not see eye to eye on many matters and in the end the WICB directors were made aware of the feelings of both Pybus and Gibson.
Looks like somebody ran out of ROPE!!!!!

It is for lots of black people. Otherwise bleaching products would not be so popular. You know this.

All right Fuzzy I back. I had to run to Bim to take care of business but that is another story for another thread. Glad to see that Otis was fired and not quit. As I understand it his contract did not stipulate a mutuality clause so he will have to be paid out- nice- if what is reported is true

Former Australia coach Mickey Arthur has defended himself against criticism from Brad Haddin, who said Arthur was "very, very insecure" as coach and had contributed to the negative atmosphere around the team. Haddin said this week that there were smiles on the faces of the players in the lead-up to this Ashes series, unlike the previous series in England, in which Arthur was sacked shortly before the first Test and replaced with Darren Lehmann.
"Brad for a long period of the time wasn't part of the team," Arthur said. "So for Brad to say those things is a little bit naive. Brad wasn't aware of the direction I was taking the team. Brad was one of the senior players who lost his place, was left out for a young guy like Matthew Wade to come in for us to build a brand that was going to be sustainable over a period of time, because at 35 the brand wasn't going to be sustainable with Brad Haddin keeping wicket.
"A couple of them that were jumping at shadows were the guys who weren't doing what was expected, those were the guys trying to take short cuts. You don't come in and mess with a culture that has been successful ... [but] the cycle had turned, we had lost a lot of experienced players, which meant we needed to create our own brand, our own culture, and put in place a sustainable value system that any player coming up from state level could walk straight in and feel comfortable and know what is expected of them.
Interesting times ahead

This is the quote from Ottis Gibson:
"There are a few people around the world bowling with similar, if not worse actions, so I expect him to be cleared for sure."
That is one shocking and frightening quote.

I thought the only league that recycle head coaches is the CFL, why is Artur being consider?
He has been fired by two international teams already.

Hi just to clear up something
Mickey was let go in South Africa due to his ongoing spat with Graeme Smith and The Clique as well as his fued with Makhaya after Makhaya used his political connections to stay in the team.
Technically he's very good but his people and man management skills are virtually nonexistent. He also has the knack of not calling a spade a spade when times are tough.
Difficult players/Outsiders like Samuels are gonna have a hellish time.
Good Luck

He has been fired not once but twice at the International level, did the WICB really look for a Head-coach?
Cornfused
Aug 19, 2014, 1:08:13 PM
Not just a head coach , one who is willing to work with the WICB aand very demanding if not critical WI public that wants a winning team and have been waiting for more than 20 years.

That Mia is using the BLP as her play toy.
So either Owen is a liar or the BLP being led by someone who is using it as a play toy.
It put powen in a very difficult position. His retort to me was it was Owen's opinion. So I asked if his opinion is correct or incorrect. Powen ran from the chat. But I find he in here. I very much doubt he will ever answer that question.

Afffuh don't think Meeeah's privileged background relinquished upon her the empathy to be a PM for the majority in Bim. He likes people like him e.g Mascoll. Plus Meeah' s other activities don't sit well with shorty. Affuh is right. Meaaaah whilst v bright is flaky and loves to live big somewhat like Powen.
Other issues include Meeeah giving Thompson the documents on Affuh during the 2007 elections. And one time Affuh went round Meeeah house uninvited to talk about some national issues and Meeah picked up Shorty and pelt he in the road and tell he in that manly voice call next time. Affuh had it in fuh she evah since then.
I just waiting fuh the next election. Uh got some good lines ready fuh Meeaaah. That is depending who hire me.

Sudden, you got an uphill battle. Things are clearly very bad and I suspect we will need to borrow a large sum of money from someone who is willing to lend. People will vote for whoever is the Opposition Leader - whether that is Mia or not - regardless of how good your rhetoric is.
The Dems got 10 years. The people will move on and not even a mad power grab within the BLP will stop that.
