HEADLINE: Windies need series win

CaribbeanCricket.com Sep 4, 2014, 7:57:38 AM

THE West Indies will take on Bangladesh in the first match of the two-Test series, starting tomorrow in Kingstown, St Vincent. The two teams are currently ranked eighth and tenth respectively on the Reliance ICC Test Team Rankings Table.
The West Indies, which is currently sitting on 74 ratings points, leads Bangladesh (21) by 53 ratings points. And because the rankings are weighted to reflect this difference, the West Indies will drop points if it doesn’t win the series convincingly.
A 1-0 series win will earn Bangladesh 13 ratings points and will cost the West Indies eight ratings points, while a 2-0 series win will help Mushfiqur Rahim’s side gain 15 ratings points with the West Indies losing ten ratings points.

In reply to CaribbeanCricket.com... so how much points will West Indies drop, in both cases?

As this seems to only say the points gained for a Bangladesh win.

This makes no sense, or is it the article. West Indies has to win convincingly, yet,

a 1-0 series win will earn Bangladesh 13 ratings points and will cost the West Indies eight ratings points, while a 2-0 series win...
; a series win for whom? The way the article is written, it seems to suggest for the WI, but the points consequence (WI losing Bang gaining) seems to suggest a series win for Bangladesh

This must be the most low-profiled lead up to the start of a test series in the West Indies. That WICB CEO Softhead does have a well earned name.

Where is his marketing acumen?

From the Trinidad Express link:

In the event of a drawn series, Bangladesh will benefit by gaining seven ratings points, while the West Indies will drop four ratings points. In contrast, the West Indies can earn a maximum of one rating point if it wins both the Tests. In this scenario, Bangladesh will drop two ratings points.

Presumably a 1-0 result to WI will yield something like -2 for WI, +2 for Bangla.

In reply to Drapsey... kindly point me to when the WICB has done promoting of a test series, other than to mention when it will be.
