Former Jamaica Prime Minister PJ Patterson has described West Indies' walkout of the India tour as "humiliation" and says it has exposed "a total collapse of a governance system" in the administration of the game by the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).
Patterson was reacting to the decision of the Windies one-day team to abort their tour of India over a contract and pay dispute with the West Indies Players' Association.
However, Patterson said much of the blame resided with the WICB as it had failed to engage the reform needed to streamline its governance of the game.

Finally Patterson speaks , and perhaps I might have been the catalyst . In this Forum , I have stated that he & Mr Wilkins after being the authors of the PATERSON REPORT &
THE WILKIN REPORT which were swiftly rejected by the WICB , to be connected to the WICB .
When they both did that I wondered whether this was a classic case of " if you cannot fight them join them ".
I am delighted that Mr. Patterson has finally decided to speak out regarding the
Worst International Cricket Board in the World aka the WICB .
I sincerely hoe that Mr.Wilkin will join Mr Patterson's condemnation of the WICB . As I stated recently in this Forum ; by
being connected to the WICB , they ran the risk f not only tarnishing their Good Names , but also their images .
Hopefully WE will soon hear from Mr. Wilkin ; regarding the WICB . I found it rather strange that when both Reports were swiftly rejected ,these eminent Gentlemen
decided to be connected to the WICB .
I really didn't think that they could have
brought about any changes to the WICB .
Those in the governance of Cricket in this Region are only there to ensure that THEY are in control of West Indies Cricket Forever .
NOTHING ELSE MATTERS TO THEM , NOT THE
EMBARRASSMENTS ; THE FACT THAT THEY HAVE
DONE EXCEEDINGLY STUPID THINGS ; THEIR
COLOSSAL INCOMPETENCE ; THEIR LACK OF
DUE DILIGENCE - N O T H I N G
NOT EVEN BEING THE WORST INTERNATIONAL
CRICKET BOARD ON THE PLANET .

Problem with the WICB as a whole is that the individuals have no shame. Despite several reports condemning their performance over the years, they remain. THey are not interested in reform. Reform does not suit their purposes. If only we know what those were. But clearly, reform is not part of the agenda.

No one is more part of the problem than Patterson. What did he do as PM of Jamaica for so long in influencing change ? Joined them. He is a honcho at CPL ,not ? I don't think he is that desperate for money with his huge pension among other things .
And to see him speak of governance...my my..I wonder if he really meant garrison ?

Well , I do think that both Patterson & Wilkin , after their Reports were rejected
by the WICB , should not as they did ally themselve with the WICB .
I am hoping that Wilkin will make a statement on the current Crisis . Lawyers always have a perspective on things . Hopefully Wilkin will soon make a statement .

But you know Hubert, Patterson was a master of the art of governance. He got things done, kept his party in office, and was extremely successful at demonizing the opposition. His methods were not necessarily ethical, and certainly strayed from the moral principles of NWM and and the other pioneers of the PNP, but what the heck! he must have read Machiavelli's Prince a few times.

Blinds feared him because he refused to play Blinds' game. He took the approach that:

Lawyers always have a perspective on things .
Are you that daft?
They are about 4-5 lawyers on these threads with vastly different views of the situation, what make you think hearing Wilkin, will make any difference from what we already know?

You are correct in your assessment . The Regional Governments asked them to implement the PATTERSON REPORT ; they ignored the Governments request ; and swiftly commissioned another Report , the WILKIN REPORT which the WICB just as swiftly rejected .
The Governments of the Region said nothing and did nothing . In essence they coiled their tails BETWEEN THEIR LEGS . The Governments need to have a meeting with the WICB . This nonsense cannot be sustained over time . They can also communicate with the ICC regarding the WICB'S Stewardship of Cricket in the Region .
Let me again state in this Forum , the following facts ; the WICB owns no Stadia in the Region , it has no Police Officers to protect Players . My take is that if discussions with both the ICC & the WICB fail then perhaps they should resort to
enquiring about what Legal Options they
can persue .
It should be in the best interest of the
ICC that ALL its Member Boards are adhering to Good Governance Practices .It was the failure of the WICB to properly supervise the GCB that landed the latter in the Court .
Where were the ICC & the
WICB when the Government of Guyana took the GCB to Court ; on the sidelines , this proved beyond a shadow of a doubt two things ; One Governments can if it has cause , bring a Case against the ICC ;the WICB or any Regional Board to the Courts . Secondly any talk about Governments not intervening in Cricket is not only Propaganda , but also a myth .

Government have a big part to play in cleaning up this mess and make things righ going forward and a lack of leadership from all the Caribbean governments are the resulting factors at hand.
Under the caricum the govt can band together to make WICB a non factor in the Caribbean and appoint a committee to form and run cricket in the Caribbean under an organize body. That will need ICC corporation and I strongly believe the ICC will comply.
You will all say "wait a minute, another corrupt organization" I say NO, not another because this time it will be runed as a business and cricket as the product.
If the CEO and CFO cannot produce then they must go.

First let me welcome you to this Forum . I agrre with all that you have stated . But I must inform you that in this Forum there are some who are Staunch Supporters of the WICB .
This is despite the fact that the WICB &
the Regional Boards are populated with people whose main goal is to be in the governance of Cricket Forever . Because they claim they have a mandate to govern Cricket in the Region .
Since they supposedly have this mandate , to be their own Bosses , and supposedly cannot be removed . They have absolutely no incentive to improve the game in the Region .
It is primarily because they answer only to themselves why they are Incompetent , Inept ; Arrogant ; lacking in Foresight &
Vision , lacking in Exercising Due Diligence ; Failing to realize & understand that Cricket is not a Hobby , it is a very serious Business .
For decades these MIMIC MEN have followed the model of the WICBC , when Cricket was organized & run by the wealthy people in the Region who took a keen interest in Cricket .
In essence Cricket in the Region is governed by people whose methods & thinking are archaic . They have on several occasions commissioned Reports , yet they have bluntly refused to make changes that these Reports suggested .
The reason why they refuse to do that is that they are very fearful of losing some of their power , not even if that would help Cricket in the Region , and stop the animosity that they have towards the Players .
They do not care if our once prestige is in shambles , or the ICC brings decides to
introduce the two tier System , and our Team and Players are
reduced to playing Argentina ; Holland ; Canada ; the USA ; Ireland et al .

Dude, don't be as dumb as Point, the WICB is a corporation, its members do not pay taxes.
Governments in the region are no different from the WICB, they represent their constiuents.
If cricket was that big of a deal in the region, guys would not want to be the next Lavon or Kobie.
We the fans, are about cricket, which is in the minority.

FYI Wilkin was commissioned by the WICB to present a Report , this was after the Worst International Cricket Board in the World ,
aka the WICB rejected the Patterson Report .
The WICB just as swiftly rejected the Wilkin Report . So I take umbrage at your remarks to me . My reason for wanting to hear from both Patterson & Wilkin is that after their Reports were rejected , they chose to ally themselves with the WICB .
Patterson has made a statement , in my opinion Wilkin should also do that . WE live in Democratic Countries where Freedom of Speech is one of the Pillars of Democracy .
I know that you supposed to know that it seems that you only wanted to say NOTHING . You have done that so now go away .

I believe that they do care , but they are numbed by the lack of Good Governance , and Incompetence of those who are in the governance of Cricket in the Region .
I have no doubt that they will become engaged when the see things are being done to make our Players fully competitive in the International Cricket Arena .
They realize that aint going to happen until there is a complete restructuring of Cricket in the Region .
