KINGSTOWN, St Vincent (CMC):St Vincent and the Grenadines Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves has written to CARICOM asking the regional body to communicate to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) his "grand settlement" proposal, aimed at diffusing the BCCI's US$42 million compensation claim against the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) and ending the full-blown crisis.

Gonsalves told reporters in Kingstown on Monday that the grand settlement included five elements, the first of which was that the WICB settled the internal matter with the "India 14".

He was referring to the West Indies cricketers who prematurely ended their tour of India last month over a pay dispute with West Indies Players' Association (WIPA), resulting in the US$42 million claim in losses from the BCCI.

I agree with you. Those tax breaks for cricketers and the WICB should end now.

That is an anachronism!

What is so special about them that they should be absolved of the responsibility, which every other citizen-including every other athletes and sporting bodies-bears?

No wonder one of those cricketing multi-millionaires thought he had a divine right to a further concession from the Jamaican government to import yet another luxury vehicle

This so true and the paradox. It is a nexus in our economy and has been allowed to operate that way.

It has no real tangible assets and every one is provided for them.

This continual reference back to the patterson report is a reflection on how hollow we really are. The report is too political and too little business oriented. Plus it is grossly obsolete. Not because several problem persist renders this document, that was pre-T20 era, relevant.

Lets move on and seek a real business approach to this industry.

The reason it will probably not be filed has more to do with WI bending over rather than India opening up their books, India does not need to take the WICB to court to strangle them.

I have no idea whether he reads what I write here or not . My belief is that any reasonable person ; would come to the same conclusions that I came to regarding those
in the governance of Cricket in the Region .

Obviously the Sycophants of those in the governance of Cricket in the Region would
disagree . I am not a conceited person ; however I take comfort in the fact that
I know that I am right and they are wrong .

What I find exceedingly troubling is the fact that the ICC has allowed the WICB to become a Rogue Cricket Board , by not asking the WICB to exercise good governance
in its administration of Cricket in the Region .

This has had a very negative effect in Cricket in this Region ;unfortunately the ICC thinks that it is immune from the
Incompetence ; Ineptness ; lack of Good Governance ;lacking Foresight & Vision ,
Accountability etc .

The fact is that every time the WICB garners headlines it is for the wrong reasons ; and like it or not ; the ICC indirectly takes a hit every time the WICB screws up .
