St John’s, Antigua – The West Indies Cricket Board today advised that Sunil Narine had requested that he be permitted to take full responsibility for the rehabilitation of his bowling action.

The WICB respects and agreed to Narine’s decision and looks forward to his return to international cricket at the earliest opportunity. Narine is currently engaged in remedial work in his native Trinidad and Tobago.

The WICB asks that Narine’s privacy be respected during this period of rehabilitation.

Narine was withdrawn from the West Indies tour of India after his bowling action was reported during the last edition of the Champions League.

The 26 year old off spinner is currently ranked Number 2 in the ICC bowling rankings for both One Day Internationals and Twenty20 Internationals.

So WICB dropped him and did nothing to help him, he now seeks to help himself then some skuntholes wanna bawl WI first and one set ah nonsense bout pride and passion.

The ICC and no other, first allows pelting, second bans people subjectively when they pelt, but certain pelters from favoured countries are never called, and an umpire cannot be an umpire and call a player, so backroom schemes can be used to determine the 'culprits' and the 'spared transgressors'.

Pelting as a function of degree of flex is never going to be fair and opens the whole mess to corruption. They can beat you by incapacitating those they see as problems by using the 'system'.

And once again the speculation begins.........he right tho' so I hope when he list who he is loyal to and in order no one gets vex.............people has been taken to tasks for listing the Windies way down in the pecking order in terms of loyalty....... while you and some would also want to say that without the west indies and the whole hundred yards...........

This is what can happen when you choose a franchise team over your home base team. Now the WICB must help him so he can choose to play for the IPL franchise over the WICB. Errrr, If I'm the WICB, I'd want something in return, like his commitment for certain series, while allowing him as much as possible to make a living in franchises.

I'm not sure if the WICB has not offered help to Narine but you have made some very valid points above.


For some people, loyalty appears to only be a one way street ie from the WICB to the cricketers but never from the cricketers to the WICB and cause of West Indies cricket.

In 2012, aFter a successful ODI series for WI vs AUs, Narine had to pick between playing the Australia Test series or playing IPL. He made the right choice for himself. He collected his coin. The WICB blessed him and let him go.

WI lost the series and everyone was happy for Narine for making the right decision for his own career. It was no biggie.

Now its 2 years later. Narine is found to be pelting whilst playing T20 tourney cricket. He now decides to solve the issue on his own, working on his own in Trinidad.

Again Narine took the option which he felt was best for his own interest. SInce when was there any ambiguity in this situation?

Since we have to speculate here is my take: I thought it was said that Narine's rehab was being taken care of by Kolkata.

It is obvious to me that Narine is not eager to play Test cricket. He would rather play just T20 and maybe 50 overs. He doesn't wNt no ties with WICB.

He knows that his standing in T20 is as such that West Indies will always want him to play but he doesn't want any more demands on his time other than that.

That is his choice and I don't have a problem with it.
