West Indies Cricket Board president Dave Cameron revealed yesterday that the Board of Directors’ approval of a new One Day International skipper was unanimous.
Earlier this month, Board of Directors were presented with a recommendation from the WICB selectors, chaired by Clive Lloyd, to appoint 23-year-old Barbados all-rounder Jason Holder as captain of the West Indies ODI squad ahead of the regional team’s five-match ODI series against South Africa and just two months before the ICC World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
Holder replaced Trinidad and Tobago all-rounder Dwayne Bravo at the helm of the ODI squad for the South Africa ODIs.

the Board of Directors approval of a new One Day International skipper was unanimous.
In other words, "we unanimously agreed Dwayne Bravo was not a yes man and gave us too much 'back chat' so we had to get rid of him."

It is clear that Cameron and the WICB is setting up Holder to fail.

Speaking to my Antiguan buddy last night, he said a number of fans in Antigua want to get rid of the whole lot, especially Bravo.
He said the selectors has gone backward by selecting Peters, Shiv is going to get kill in SA, because his movement is too slow.
He has no problem with Smith and Deo as replacements,
VOR; don't look for any improvement with Leeward Island cricket any time soon.

WICB would not care if Holder Fails as a captain or WI Fail as a team. As long as this move helps them control the team and implement what they want to that is sufficient. They have easy justifications Anyway WI Dosent win so what is new... The players are too young and are just learning...

Hey, your Antiguan buddy is not following WI cricket. Shiv has an average of 48.35 against SA with 5 hundreds. Remember that his highest score of 203 was against SA and no one in the current side have a better average against this side. I don't think anyone can name another WI cricketer at this time that is better than Shiv without being bias!!!

They did not have any other option. With the 3 gone - this was the only logical selection since they did not want a previous captain (eg Gayle). Remember, just a while back it was the same way Ramdin got the Test captaincy. Don't expect any great improvement in performance since much more is needed to achieve that.
As I said before, the WICB is pathetic in leadership. Wavell was trying not to be dogmatic as his predecessor, hoping to strike a balance between the WICB, international players and regional players, but it got blown up in his face. Despite the crap that went on between the WICB & WIPA, the senior players should not have abandon the India tour and seek resolution afterwards. Now they must pay for their stupidity at the mercy of the WI fans!!!!

Let's hope that the WICB politics do not destroy Holder. It is a lot of responsibility the WICB placed on a player who has not yet establish himself, at least with Sammy he had many more games played when he was selected as captain.
