Chairman of selectors Clive Lloyd has defended the non-selection of Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard to the West Indies World Cup side insisting that the pair’s omission was not victimisation and that the time was right try something different.
The former West Indies captain, speaking on the Sportsmax Zone, also noted that it is not the end of the road for the Trinidad and Tobago pair who he encouraged to earn their way back into the side.
Asked if he was given a directive not to choose the T&T all-rounder, Lloyd said: “No. I never spoke to anybody.”
“Let people understand that we have been at the bottom rung of the ladder for the last eight years or more with the same players, recycling people all the time,” Lloyd explained.

It seems like Lloyd is thinking about the atmosphere in the locker room, he thinks if Bravo and Pollard are in the locker room for the World Cup, things might be unsettled.

Looks like another guy who cannot handle strong personalities... Soon he will drop Gayle too. He will select 11 "yes Boss" and say this is the best we got. Amazing how all these guys year after year see talent in U19 teams but cant use what they have.

Just the way team stood behind in India and how many responded to what Gayle said yesterday should clearly show that they are men who the team respects... Even the current captain Holder and Previous captain Sammy stood with them.

I am a big Pollard fan myself, but, seriously, there are so many times he has disappointed and not stepped up to the occasion, this was sure to come. Maybe Loyd has the balls to do it so that these guys know they have to be consistent. Sarwan,Lara,Chanderpaul- all these guys were dropped at one time or another, West Indies have no realistic chance of winning the World Cup, so give them a wake up call!

He has made his mark as a player but time for him to put on his PJ's take a whizz and go to bed

Another statement that has no justification!!! Lloyd said: “Sammy has helped people along and I think he will be good for young Jason (Holder) but I actually think Andre Russell could be a fine all-rounder if he applies himself.” Read between the lines - The selectors clearly believes that all-rounders, Sammy & Russell are currently better for the team on and off the field. If you picked Bravo & Pollard who would you drop?? Can't carry a side to the WC with 5 all-rounders in it (and all have low averages)!!

Simple -He is an opener, Bravo and Pollard are not!!! Not the best, but average 33.71 this year.

I am surprised with both the statements... If Bravo had not supported others how would the entire team stand behind him in India? Also Lloyd "Feels" Russel can be a fine allrounder if he applies himself but another alrounder who has performed is dropped. Hogwash.

Sammy and Russell are the designated allrounders. Holder is the bowling allrounder.

Really, there isnt a fit for Bravo and especially Pollard in the team.

The selectors are trying to blood a youngster instead of Bravo who in his career hasn't really done much for the west indies, andpollard's record is actually very poor.

LLoyd is right when he says that most of their accomplishments have come in the IPL
