Too much is being asked of Gayle, like it was Lara.

Windies don't have the bowling to defend a total less than 350 against the top eight.

That being said, Gayle is being asked to deliver a century in each match at a run/ball.

That leaves approximately 34 overs to get 250 runs. That leaves Smith, Bravo, Samuels, Ramdin, Sammy & Russell and 3 bowlers. This formula applies whether the Windies are setting or chasing. Who among us is confident that the remaining 10 batsmen can do this on a consistent basis? Unfortunately, I'm not.

Another more reasonable expectation is for the Windies to pin their hopes on each other...and not just on Gayle. If he goes for a paltry amount, another of the recognized batsmen will have to take up the "mantle", so to speak. I'd rather pin my hopes on scenario #2.
