HEADLINE: Food for thought for Simmons, Lloyd ahead of Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe tours

Typically, the reactions to being demolished for 114, losing the Test by 277 runs and the series 2-0 are as wild as they are varied.

“You know what they ’ave to do? They ’ave to bring back Powell and Pollard!” shouts an irate from the stands as Australian captain Michael Clarke conducts an impromptu media conference on the outfield minutes after his team had completed the demolition job in the blistering sunshine of the fourth afternoon at Sabina Park.

Someone next to the shouter points out to him that Kieran seems to have turned his back on the game and remains out of touch in his native Nevis, while Kieron is yet to play a Test match and may never do so. Silence follows.

But that’s okay. There’s always someone else willing to take on the role of town crier.

“When we goin’ pick we best team?” asks another. You know where he’s going with that. Bring back Gayle, Simmons, big Bravo, Chanderpaul, Russell and Narine. And since we going that way, Pollard too.

I wonder who wrote that

Sounds like the same Tony Cozier-wannabe who said very much the same thing on commentary over the weekend.

What I don't get is his belief that some of our best players like Shiv, Gayle, et al, made no difference to West Indies' fortune but somehow he is so optimistic that this latest group-a number of whom have been woefully exposed at test level-will coalesce to make West Indies a "good team."

Misplaced hope or self delusion?

instead of focussing so much on the approach to batting by the number 11 this writer should call the names of those front line batsmen who let us down and lambast them. In the end this article didn't tell us anything we didn't know already.

it seems to me the main thrust of the article was about Simmons and Lloyd sticking to this team with a few changes as necessary if they believe they have made the right choices, if not go back to the IPLers and take their chances.

Cant stand the geezer....same shit over and over and over.

When he was joined by Waugh...the entire session was muted.

The author must share Chrissy!s hypocratic genes...once Titties are in charge then the mantra is leave the status quo and exercise restraint and abundant patience and the Lord Jesus Christ will guarantee you a mansion in heaven and unending supplies of milk and honey....

They are even prepared to overlook Yardie Dave provide he throws them a Tittie to the bone or two.. lol

What wonderful sentiments expressed by this writer.

Just as the selectors he too will be cussed in favour of the alternative madness.
