ST. JOHN’S, Antigua – Half dozen players with Test match experience have been included in the list of 90 entered in the Player Draft of the West Indies Cricket Board Professional Cricket League.
The Player Draft, which has been organised with the goal of achieving an equitable distribution of the available player talent in the Regional 4-Day and NAGICO Super50 tournaments, takes place tomorrow, Thursday, June 18, at the Accra Beach Hotel in Barbados, starting at 1 p.m.
Leeward Islands Hurricanes will make the opening selection.
They will be followed by Trinidad & Tobago Red Force, then the Jamaica Franchise, Windward Islands Volcanoes, Barbados Pride and reigning Regional 4-Day champions Guyana Jaguars.
This sequence will be repeated for each of the five rounds of draft picks. Each franchise must pick a player in each round and will have two minutes to select the player. Where a selection is not made within the stipulated time, the offending franchise will miss their turn and must wait until all other franchises have made their selection in that round before making its selection.
A total of 30 players will be drafted. The remaining players will be available for Pay-For-Play contracts at the discretion of the various franchises.
Fans can view the “live” webcast of the Draft on the WICB’s website, www.windiescricket.com.

Most of the available players are not much better than the local talent available in the respective countries. I wished they had some in demand players.

So how come the test and IPL players are not included in the protected players or the draft??

Maybe they wont feature in the PCL.
10 protected players still too conservative, and won't force the talent sharing the way it should.
Should be only 6 players protected, and a minimum of 5 picks from other territories, and some real incentive to win.
I promise you that then u would see teams make some moves to get best teams.
Need a cash injection to motivate these "Franchises"

I think maybe becasue they are on central contracts with wicb? Not sure.
in the questions afterwards, Roland Holder said there is the pay for play feature so Chris Gayle could opt to play for another team when he is available.

hardly likely...I expect pay to play players to all be local just like last season.

The senior team will be on tour during the season, so teams had to protect players

Sad to see that 2 openers with test hundreds; Adrian Bharath and Keiran Powell; continue to be absent from our first class cricket.
