Mustafizur Rahman’s five-wicket haul on debut helped the Tigers outplay the two-time world champions by 79 runs at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Thursday.
The hosts made an impressive 307 after electing to bat first before their bowlers bundled out India for 228 to take a 1-0 lead in the series in style.
The win took Mashrafe Bin Mortaza’s side to 91 points, to go past West Indies in the ODI team ranking.

Honestly, is there any future (anymore) in playing as West Indies in ODI's and T20's?
--
There should be talk (discussions) in both Caribbean society and Cricketers (especially), if atleast for ODI's and T20's, each individual nation should become a member of the ICC and take the plunge to support itself.
--
WICB should only be responsible for running the CPL, PCL and for Test Cricket.
--
Surely, we have reached a point in our journey, where the bitter pill must be seriously considered. (for ODI's and T20's)

Without a Test team your individual cricket nations will not be a full member so are you fine playing UAE and company?
Which full member team will waste time (and money) putting a squad together to play this crappy ODI/T20 team?
Which Island team will have the resources, or willingness to use said resources, to put what is necessary for this team to play other nations?
Putting together an international cricket team goes well beyond your perceived ability to compete.
List
Barbados - country broke.
Jamaica - in IMF program and struggled to get lights at Sabina.
Trinidad - Maybe Jack Warner will run it. He knows how to get funded.
Guyana - local cricket board in disarray.

Hey...you people behaving like this was not an eventuality, this was coming for a long time and now that it is finally in our faces we are complaining.......they say, that in order to come back up, we have to hit rock bottom, I remember saying on this very site, that it will get a lot worse before it gets better, and for all the gloom and doom that you people are preaching, things could look up, remember, situations change..............please, I am very sure that there is more important things in this life for you people to worry about than the state of west indies cricket................

it's not quite true to say that once you hit rock bottom the only way is up...we could stay at rock bottom.

that in order to come back up, we have to hit rock bottom,
If the pit is bottomless then the rock can never hit bottom. so it all doom and gloom henceforth

Dave & Clive paying the price for knobbling the team that played the last WC. The loss against the Paddy boys must have hit their rankings hard.
The big loss from not playing the CT will be a financial loss, both for the players and especially for the WICB. Oh well, just add it to the $42M.

Those same fastbowlers and same batsmen would parade against Bangla.
Aus crushed a young emerging WI 5-1 in 1975....

At least then we were a talented but inexperienced bunch. This bunch??? Talented??? Inexperienced, yes, yes, yes.
You cannot compare the young squad of 1975 with this bunch...not at all. Come again analyst-kid.

These guys aren't so bad. I see a lot of potential in these youngsters.
The main letdown is the two players in their prime Darren Bravo and Kemar Roach.
Aus and SA is high class BUT they did well against Eng.
These guys will learn but I know they would beat Bangla.

If this forum had a proper search function we would have seen a post by me on this impending danger of ODI ranking due to the lack of ODI splanned then for the next year. I believe it was very early this year or late last year, when we pulled out the Indian tour that this situation would have arisen .

No. It started with Lara when he went down to South Africa and disgraced the West Indies by going on strike. Then it got worse under Bravo when he went to India and disgraced West Indies by aborting the tour. These two idiots are the worst things to have happened to West Indies cricket!

I agree...the reality is that test cricket is dead in the region so the future is limited overs cricket. As we can see more fans come out to watch the national franchises than the West Indies which seems to have become a toxic brand. It's time to accept the inevitable and turn off the machine.
if these countries can produce good athletics teams they can put out good t20 sides and try to rebuild good odi sides. Only three men and a dog turn up to watch tests so there is no future in that...
