HEADLINE: WIPA resignation may have hurt Ramdin

CaribbeanCricket.com Sep 9, 2015, 3:15:19 AM

The fact that wicketkeeper/batsman Denesh Ramdin resigned from the West Indies Players Association (WIPA) may have cost him his job as captain of the West Indies Test team.

This according to former West Indies manager Omar Khan who says that he understands that many of the senior players have resigned from the players body after they again negotiated a poor contract for them

Khan said: “It is alleged that a number of senior West Indies players have resigned from the Players Association (WIPA) with Ramdin being one of them, and it seems as if this has cost him the captaincy.”

Ethnic cleansing.

Is the other pick worthy of a Windies call up?

Lloyd living his dream.

Ramdin will get a mystery injury on tour or once he makes a low score both Dowrich and Hope will be picked over him .

His days are numbered. He should enjoy the free trip to Sri Lanka.

Leadership Training in 2006

Ramdin was one identified for leadership for a while now.

Then penalised

Dat rass was one "Magnificent 7". Is Ramo the only one standing? smile

jacksprat Sep 9, 2015, 11:29:40 AM

Sammy was also one of the key leaders, along with Pollard & Bravo.

The others have already been victimized for their roles in the India fiasco, yet Sammy is still standing as T20 captain. Hmm!

Lets wait and see.....

I was hoping to see some evidence to support the headline but all I got was wild conjecture!

It's the usual Omar Khan garbage. Ramdin should never have been named captain in the first place.

He spoke and wrote about the tour to Zim, the allege axing of Ramdin, yesterday he spoke, on the mason show and wrote in his column today,
Ramdin's sacking is because of his resignation from WIPA.

[quote]Windies wicketkeeper/batsman Denesh Ramdin has been dropped from the West Indies limited overs team for the all important tri-nation series set to begin in Zimbabwe from August 19. Ramdin was cut from the team, which needs to win this tournament to get the necessary points to qualify for the 2017 Champions Trophy in England.

Ramdin dropped from Windies ODI team

That statement from Omar Khan makes no sense. Disappointed in him if in fact he actually said that.

If _admin is correct and Jason Holder is NOT a member of the WIPA, then Ramdin cannot have been dropped solely because he is not a member of the WIPA

The WICBC mandating that to captain their team one must be a member of the organization with whom they've been at loggerheads for over a decade?

Nuh sound right.

S

T. JOHN’S, Antigua – The West Indies Cricket Board would like to clear the air, following a number of media reports throughout the Caribbean concerning some details of the decision to replace Denesh Ramdin as West Indies captain.

First, the appointment of Jason Holder was recommended by the WICB Selection Panel and endorsed unanimously by the Directors who participated in a teleconference meeting on the matter last Wednesday.

Secondly, Holder is currently not a member of the West Indies Players’ Association.

Seeing that TTCB President Azim Bassarath is a Director of the WICBC and he has publicly stated he does not support the removal of Ramdin as WI captain, that "unanimous endorsement" is curious to say the least

XDFIX Sep 10, 2015, 2:47:50 AM

Weh Khan from?

Y did TT remove Ramdin as captain from their own team?

Larr Pullo Sep 10, 2015, 3:05:30 AM

Move on, nothing to see here...

natty_forever Sep 10, 2015, 10:37:08 AM

In reply to rillo... it all depends on if Ramdin is the only one of such ethnic background, as LLoyd has always shown a propensity to have at least one (Gomes) in the team. So if Ramdin performs he will be retained!
