The West Indies Players Association and the University of the West Indies Open Campus (UWIOC) yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
This MOU is reflective of both parties' commitment to the development of WIPA, its members and Caribbean civilisation on a whole.
Members of the WIPA will now have at their fingertips the tools to further their training and development with the assistance of the UWIOC. This training and development will come at a discounted cost to WIPA members once they fulfill UWIOC's entry requirements.
WIPA's President and CEO Wavell Hinds said the move is "a step in the right direction for the development of our players".

Is this an acknowledgement that Don Hilaire may have been correct in his assessment of regional players' academic abilities or lack thereof?

Best practice...strategic planning...and straight talk will always trump blind nationalism, hero worship and general dotishness.
Starting all over again. Sigh.
You know...having great plans on paper was never the problem though.
What has always been a big issue with the WICB is that there was no real will and commitment to execution. Don Hillaire tried to change that and was successful to a certain degree...unfortunately...the Caribbean eh interested in dat.
The tide of silliness overran the voices of the few who could make a positive difference.
Its like how people vote for KNOWN dirty politicians..because dey gi dem a $20 around election time.

Yawn. It is the WICB who should be sent to school.

Ah wonder what is the prerequisite to get into the UWIOC? I am sure its not just Primary education which is what most of these players have!

A move in the right direction as many of our players simply don't have the time to study if they are selected, especially from a young age.

'Caribbean civilisation'?
Those UWIOC services might help others too - not just WIPA members.

In reply to Priapus... Don [beep] was only stating the obvious, which in my opinion need not have been said in public, add to that how it was said. That's the issue I had with your Don.

You are absolutely Right . The people in the WICB are in dire need of learning & acquiring Business Acumen .
Because it is very obvious that none
of them have any business acumen .
I hate to bring this up , but if they had Good Business Acumen , they would not now be potentially sued for 42 million dollars by the BCCI .
Only Idiots would cancel a Tour and leave their Host out on a limb , without trying to seek a solution with its Players , so that the Tour could continue .
