ST. JOHN’S, Antigua – The Caribbean will be the epicentre of the cricket World next June, when two of the World’s leading teams visit for a three-nation One-day International tournament.

Hosts West Indies will face down with reigning One-day World champions Australia and current World No.3 South Africa in a 10-match tournament over a three-week period from Wednesday, June 6 to Sunday, June 26.

“This tournament promises to be very exciting with two of the World’s top teams coming to the Caribbean,” said WICB Manager, Cricket Operations Roland Holder.

“It will provide a golden opportunity for our team to test themselves against two of the best sides in the World in the ODI format.”

The Tournament opens with round-robin matches contested at the Guyana National Stadium before the teams travel to Basseterre in St. Kitts for another series of matches at Warner Park with the series moving to the Barbados capital of Bridgetown for the final round of matches at Kensington Oval, culminating with the Final.

“Australia won the ICC Cricket World Cup on home soil earlier this year and South Africa are highly ranked in this format, but are also the No.1 side in Tests,” said Holder. “These two sides have shared some fascinating rivalries not only in the ODI, but other formats of the international game in recent years.

“The regional audience, therefore, will have a rare chance to attend and see this strong rivalry played out before their eyes, so we expect them to pack the three venues and bring the noise and colour associated with the game in the region.”

I seriously doubt that this is going to be a financial Success for the
WICBC . Certain Countries in the Region may benefit from some Tourist Dollars . The financial status of many Countries in the Region are not
stellar , this also may be a factor in the total view of things .

I could be wrong , but I have a
sneaky feeling that the Countries
where these Matches are being played
are going to drop Mucho Dinero into the Coffers of the WICBC .Time will tell whether or not this will benefit them financially .

WE are now in the Era of PAY TO PLAY . Essentially , those Countries who are willing to outbid others , are going to be the Host Countries and the beneficiaries of some Tourist Dollars .

At least WE are going to find out the
Financial well being of Cricket Fans in the Region . Consideration must also be given to the fact that currently Our Players & Team are Bottom Dwellers , particularly in the
longer versions of the game .

It aint that our Players & Team are
going to be the Center of Attraction , or are endowed with the ability to
attract Regional Cricket Fans to see
their Matches .

Your optical impairment prevents you from seeing the Point . The fact is also that Damocles Sword in the form of
42 million dollars is hanging over the heads of the people in the WICBC .

In addition to this the WICBC aint in very good shape from a financial perspective . But if you are looking for the Point , I suggest that you check with an Optometrist .
