HEADLINE: WICB expected to respond to Simmons today

Michael Muirhead, the CEO of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB), has clarified that — contrary to media reports — Phil Simmons has not yet been reinstated as the head coach of the national side.

Simmons was suspended by the WICB on September 28 after he publicly expressed his frustration for not getting the best ODI squad for the Sri Lanka tour. Simmons was in London preparing to join the squad en route to Sri Lanka, but instead received an email from Muirhead informing him of the suspension.

“There has been no formal reinstatement,” Muirhead told ESP Ncricinfo from Antigua.

Muirhead confirmed that he had a meeting with Simmons and his attorney on October 21.

“It is about dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s. What we are doing is making sure that all protocols and everything is agreeable to both sides in terms of language and the steps that we will take going forward.”

In other words, the WICB did not have adequate confidentiality and non-disclosure policies and procedures in place (either contractual or otherwise) that could serve as a reasonable basis for suspending Simmons. So the WICB is now attempting to put those policies and procedures in place for the next time Simmons airs their dirty laundry in public.

Exactly. So now Simmons has to agree to the revised policies. What happens if he does not agree to the changes proposed?

Could this be interpreted as a contract renegotiation?

You would not be able to technically. Contract renegotiation usually comes at a time when the existing contract ends or when the process for mutual renegotiaion is completed as per the existing agreement.

Here Simmons is suspended (Disciplined) and the terms are being revisited. I believe that he has a strong case and that is the reason WICB is so much on back foot and is going to change some clauses. Will have to wait and watch on what happens here.

As Always , those in the WICBC relish closing the Barn Door when the Horse has already bolted .

All this talk about Simmons being reinstated was just another Propaganda
spawned by the WICBC . It is possible
this is the same thing regarding the
BCCI . After cancelling the Tour to India , they then realized the enormity of the Financial Problem they placed their Host in .

These are not really serious people ,
and they have done this for years .
Serious People always think carefully
about they decide on a Course of action .

That aint the style of our Fearless Cricket Emperors . They believe , because of their unlimited Power , they can do as they please , and then reflect afterwards .

Let me again state for the benefit of the Blowhards in the WICBC :
*************************************
Cricket is a Very Serious Business
*************************************
That demands that the Business of
*************************************
Cricket , be Taken Very Seriously .
*************************************
One would think that this Lot would have learnt something by their Recklessness . Unfortunately WE see
absolutely no signs that they have
learnt anything .
