HEADLINE: Cameron dashes Caricom's hopes of urgent meeting

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC) -- There is unlikely to be any urgent meeting between the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) and Caricom to discuss the radical Governance Review Report which has called for the immediate dissolution of the WICB.
Speaking at the Cayman Cricket's Annual Awards Dinner last weekend in George Town, embattled WICB President Dave Cameron insisted that the board of directors first needed to go over the controversial report before any meeting with Caricom could be held.
Grenada's Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell, chairman of Caricom's Cricket Governance Committee, had said earlier this month that an "urgent meeting" had been requested with the WICB to discuss the implementation of the panel's recommendations.

Is anyone surprised by this?
The WICB will just drag its feet and 'study' this for the next 10 years!
I predicted this latest recommendation will go the way of all the others that preceded it.

Jail too good fuh teflon dave.....he is the most arrogant sob ever to grace the halls of the WICBC and he believe that he will get away with his arrogance all the time......like a certain PM he is fond of saying that he was elected, and though that is true, again like a certain PM he is unable to recognize that he is the cause of the ruination done to this once revered institution and step aside, it is people like him that would take you to hell in a hand basket and smile and ask if you are alright........something need to be done with him, what? only the Almighty know, but the sooner he is gotten rid of, the sooner the healing can begin......will the replacements do a better job? who knows, one thing for sure is that they cannot do worse, and if by chance they do, then collectively we should apologize to teflon dave..........
he an his actions would make a billy goat puke.........nonsense..

Although I don't think that politicians should interfere with the running of such bodies corporate like WICB, on this occasion I will make an exception. The time has come and change has to come.
I would advise DD to embrace the changes called for and make it look like he is a change manager

ok..
So if you were indeed advising Dave...
I praytell...what would you say to convince Dave that that is the correct course of action?
Have you seen any evidence that Dave cares about the greater good?
How are you gonna convince Dave that he could go from Zero to Hero by being THE change agent here?

By pointing out the alternatives. He is the object of hatred and seen as a failure and a buffoon. I think DD loves to be loved.
Public opinion is against the board and at an all time low. If changes are not made in house changes will be forced upon them. Changes they won't like.

Dave seh to tell all yu
"What is important - and I must emphasise - is that the West Indies Cricket Board is a sporting organisation. We're a sporting body," the Jamaican pointed out.
"And while the history of the WICB and its socio-economic and political connections are extremely important, and we understand its relevance to our regional psyche, we are a sports organisation."
He continued: "International sporting organisations, such as the IOC, FIFA and the ICC, are concerned about two major things, and that is governance - which has to do with our structures and accountability throughout the organisation - and our autonomy, which means that the organisation and its leadership must be selected free of interference from governments."
"We're not saying we don't want the Governments to participate. We're saying that the decisions of the organisations must not be influenced by governments."
Whatta SKUNT!!!

ok..now we drifting in to what can be legally done versus what could happen by way of moral and withdrawal of Public purse support.
Cant you see Dave playing Hard Stall Ball?
He started already...cause he will seek to garner...pardon the pun public support using the NON interference excuse until it drier than bones in a desert.
honestly...I expect nothing from Dave...but you are correct...IF he could see that he could indeed WIN from this...a la Charlie Sheen...He would DO the right thing and claim that he s always been about WI cricket being served...
How many people behind the scenes will be pissed , how many still waitin on various tings promised by Cameron for supporting him?
Its deeper than the report...we know this.
A man for all seasons comes to mind...and He aint the man...even if I hope that he gives in.

Sure he can brag about a lot of things but only an arrogant disrespectful and shameless individual can believe he is more powerful than the Prime Ministers of the region he lives in.

Cameron is an arrogant piece of work but he is there only because the constituent members of the WICB want him there.
He is just the titular head; a major part of the problem, but he is not alone.
Nothing he does is without the consent of the full WICB, which is rotten and incompetent to the core.
This didn't start with Cameron and neither will it end with his departure, unless there is radical reform of that unwilling institution.

saying that nothing done by Cameron is not without the consent of the board is like saying nothing a PM does is not without consent of cabinet. i can tell you the latter is a lie

Apparently, process and deliberation are not part of best practice in management on the plantation
Politicians call for board abortion and y'all expect Cameron to bend over immediately.
Cameron calls for time and as the President he ought to be accommodated and afforded that courtesy.

man, were we comparing that? to the extent that a leader, any leader, can set an agenda and get his board or cabinet to support him, it is a reasonable comparison. what you miss is that cabinet and the PM's party can replace him so can the WICB board replace DD. sometimes i think you overreach by miles. where does the coach come into this argument?

Commie boy I sense that things are different this time around. My people tell me that everyone has come to an understanding that things have to change and are ready. DD and WICB cannot withstand the winds of change. He better embrace it fully of he will be blown away. I understand that TT is willing to underwrite some elements of the revamped board
