PERTH, Australia, CMC – West Indies captain Stafanie Taylor stroked her second half-century and went past 200 runs as she helped Sydney Thunder beat Deandra Dottin’s Perth Scorchers by 22 runs in the inaugural Women’s Big Bash here Sunday.

Opting to bat first at the WACA, Thunder got up to 139 for three off their 20 overs before limiting Scorchers to 117 all out with five balls remaining in the innings, to win their first game in three outings.

Taylor top-scored with 59 from 49 balls with seven fours and added 85 off 77 balls for the first wicket with Rachael Haynes who scored 33 from 37 deliveries

You know that in Grand Slams women get equal pay with men right? Women's tennis (sports in general) was driven up by the US Title 9 law. If other countries had such a legal framework then government investment in women's sports will be mandatory and equal to men's sports and that will drive improvements in quality even before the sport is commercially viable (if at all).

Tennis is also a sport of parent's invest of time and money to improve quality at a young age even before government/federal investment arrives. I don't think the time/money a parent puts into a child's cricket training can match what is required for a tennis player.
