HEADLINE: Graceless Gayle, tactless and unprofessional
CaribbeanCricket.com
Jan 11, 2016, 2:07:02 AM
Chris Gayle’s comments toward Australian Ten Sports’ presenter Mel McLaughlin were tactless, graceless and categorically unprofessional, whether it was said in Australia, Kazakhstan, Myanmar or any part of the Caribbean.
At the same time the call by Ian Chappell for an international ban on Gayle is fraught with unreasonableness and ludicrousness after Gayle issued an ‘apology’ and was fined US$7,000.
There are two lessons to be learnt from Gayle’s unthinkingness. Firstly, the undesirable behaviour (not unique to Gayle) did not germinate in Melbourne, Australia but had its seeds sewn and fertilised in the Caribbean by the many institutions and people who have lauded his (and others) sporting talents and allowed balls of wool to be pulled over their critical and objective eyes.

In reply to CaribbeanCricket.comwhat total clap trap is this, reporter is writing. He has oplogise for his behavior. We saw what Clinton did in America while being president, would this reporter would have him impeach?. In London in the summer time, guys working on building sites have said worst things to women passing than what Gayle said. Move on, he did not touch her on parts of her body which is out of bounds, that I would say is a disgrace. He wants to read Geoffrey Boycott bio, then he would some thing to say. One of Margaret Thatcher, cabinet Minster once said she was sexy he not sexiest too?.

Your stance is exactly the position the write highlighted when he said "Apparently two wrongs make a right once it serves someones interest! "
Read this and digest:
Had the CPL in 2014 reprimanded Gayle for his comments at a press conference in Antigua instead of claiming that, Chris is excited for the tournament and was having a laugh with a journalist, who has a laugh back; there was no malice intended (Jamaica Observer July 18, 2014), he would have known that such a behaviour is unacceptable and distasteful even in the Caribbean.
Additionally, Caribbean cricket fans could have also reflected on such a reprimand of a superstar. Instead such a response by the CPL was a further granting of unrestrained use of language to exhibit power over others especially women in an appropriated male space of Caribbean cricket. This is another example of how Gayles behaviour is also the product of a complex and contradictory Caribbean culture.
The CPL committee missed a golden opportunity to demonstrate to all its stakeholders especially the headliner players that any form of behaviour that transgresses the rights of people through sexism, racism, classism, ethnicity and sexual orientation will be unequivocally unacceptable.

What load of bollocks
what an awful article ,shame on you for allowing such a poorly written article to be headlined in such a vehicle for cricket as Caribbean cricket.com.
it is spiteful ,mean spirited, clearly written by someone who has an axe to grind and who couldn't wait to put the boot in.
The author clearly has no idea of the journey of our people and how we came to be cast adrift in the so called paradise.
The irony is that most of the world are coming around to the idea that Gayle at worst was guilty of harmless flirtation.
This is totally at odds with the writers premise as if his was a majority worldly view.
To some, it would appear that Gayle by his actions has ideas above his station and ought to be put in his place.
Here is a more balanced article that really ought to be making the headlines on CC.COM For the sake of balance ,I dare you to publish it

..i tried taking some notes and this point stood out for me
A revolution of value upends the belief that white people are more valued than others. And that goes beyond a mere statement of our commitment to racial equality. We have to break the racial habits that give life to the value gap, and that starts with changes in our social and political arrangements. Most habits come to us in the context of us living in social worlds not of our own making.
The essence of that comment at least for me is whats playing out the Gayles saga
.we let others define who we are
..and defer to their values a little too much maybe a lot too much.

Oh really ?
So when Gayle was laughing at Jimmy Adams whilst on tour was his stringing a being pulled by a white man ?
When he turned up disrespecting both his teammates and his employers direct to the English press was it the White man compelling him to ?
Who are his primary employers in T20 ?
Gayle represents a metaphor for nowt. Let us remember he chose the capital model that has at its apex the expression of power through the media. He milked it through Twitter and tv as he built his brand.
He hasn't been an advocate for player rights in T20 as it remains the sport with the greatest revenue disparity between ownership and players. T20 remains the most fractured individual horse market in sport.
The truth is he is victim to the same circus that celebrates him. And that circus is owned and operated by the usual suspects.
Maybe that would be an occasion for an enlightenment but methinks that with your kind of support it will only entrench the Don into a state of victimhood.

All with the support of fans.
There is nothing to vent about. Its all happened already.
What is amazing is that it took this to make people realise there is a problem.
In the end its not those who pointed out the issues previously who have the issue. Its you all who pretended some oppressive regime was cramping your heros style until it emerged he really was just a big kid.

Is there an ex-WI coach who has gone on and do better coaching?
WI coaches may not have done well because they did not have autonomy and that may have perpetuated the recalcitrance ascribed to Gayle ------
-Gibsons problems, I believe he was a lackey, hired by Hilaire and co. to carry out an unholy agenda how else does one explain the senseless player shuffling during his tenure those were not astute coaching moves
..i think Gibson left to do his own thinking mmay not have been bad coach.
I was totally dumbfounded the day I watched Sammy Sitting beside Gibson and being announced as the WI captain
