PRESS RELEASE – The West Indies Players’ Association would like to congratulate Shivnarine Chanderpaul on a prosperous and illustrious International career, that, spanned more than two decades.
Former West Indian Captain Chanderpaul is the only player of the modern game to represent the West Indies for over two decades. Presently, the 41 year old is the highest ranked West Indian on the ICC Test Rankings. He also holds the record and esteemed honour for batting the longest period without being dismissed in Test cricket.

He is a lucky man to find employment in something he truly loves to do, and was able to work at it for so long. That's the reason he continues to play. That's the bottom line. The politics, his employer, everything else, were just distractions from him enjoying his life's calling and passion.

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua, January 22 – Shivnarine Chanderpaul has officially retired from international cricket almost 22 years after making his debut.
The durable left-handed batsman, affectionately known as “Tiger”, formally notified the West Indies Cricket Board in an email that he will no longer be available for selection for West Indies. “The WICB acknowledges the invaluable contribution Shiv has made to the game globally and we wish him all the best,” said WICB President Dave Cameron.
