Barbados Tridents skipper Kieron Pollard will not be in attendance today at the Caribbean Premier League Player Draft which gets underway at the Concorde Experience, Chris Church, Barbados.

Pollard, who captained the Tridents to victory in the CPL in 2014, has been barred from the Player Draft and will instead liaise with coach Robin Singh and new Indian owner Dr Vijay Mallya via Skype to strategise and select their team to compete in the 2016 edition which bowls off in June-July.

Reports emerged on Tuesday that high ranking West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) officials have requested CPL not permit the 28-year-old to represent the Tridents in the Draft which starts at 11am today.

well the reporter said he spoke to Pollard. The key question here is who told Pollard that he is not allowed in the draft. He should be able to report that.

I don't see anything wrong with the reporting...rather, it seems very shabby that Pollard is barred without explanation.

The CPL and the WICB need to come out and provide us with the why....

Bestian Feb 11, 2016, 1:34:23 AM

Pollard must be writing the letters for Sammy, just as he did for Bravo!

First you have to agree with the premise that he has been barred.

Not clear not clear!

How is he barrred yet is participating via skype?

Baffling

That's not the journalist's fault...he's reporting what Pollard said, and he's perfectly right to do so.

Just because Pollard has not given a reason for the WICB barring him, doesn't make it an unprintable story. If the WICB acts without giving reasons, that in itself is a story.

Commentators who criticise the WICB suddenly find themselves not used for home TV series, with no reason given...that's a story.

It's now up to the WICB and CPL to deny he's been barred...then we will find out who's lying.

When he is willing to trace and be available in person, what do you call limiting him to phone calls or Skype?

Is he there?

rillo Feb 11, 2016, 8:15:32 AM

If that is so then Pollard should sue the WICB.
File an injunction and stop them dead in their tracks.
Make liars and smartmen Cameron, Muirhead and Pall GO TO A TRIBUNAL OR COURT AND ANSWER SOME REAL HARD QUESTIONS.
