Events from the embarrassing India tour pull started a chain reaction of endless issues, which commenced with Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard being axed from the 2015 World Cup squad. A host of other shocking selections followed, highlighted most notably by Denesh Ramdin being strangely sacked as Test captain and young Jason Holder given the burden.

The bombs kept going off to end the year with coach Phil Simmons suspended for publicly admonishing the board for "outside interference" in preventing Bravo and Pollard from being picked. Domestically, the Trinidad & Tobago Cricket board, learning from their WICB elders the art of erudite administration, took away the captaincy and contracts from then-captain Rayad Emrit, Kevon Cooper and Evin Lewis due to them playing in the Bangladesh Premier League.

He's right. Look around the world, in every country, selection to the national teams is based on participation in domestic tournaments. Why should it be different here?

To get sponsors for domestic tournaments, the big players need to play, in at least part of the season. Along with that, they also have a responsibility to pass tips to the youngsters and help them improve.

In reply to brians_da_best.. well he also noted, inappropriate preparation ... so, I would not have a problem with a youngster/oldster playing in another professional league that offers appropriate preparation while not playing in ours because of a clash of schedule.

How are you going to make that happen is what Die hard asks. You know star players are needed to even to secure Local sponsorship. So apart from being vindictive and stating you cant play any cricket if you do not play domestic what other options have you give them?

The options are clear. Play domestic cricket to be eligible for international cricket.

Else go to the leagues an stay there an mak your millions.

We need players who take pride in playing for the west indies and also helping develop our cricket.

With the new pcl, the money is also there to play domestic cricket. And check the figures posted by hinds, these guys will all stand to earn hundreds of thousands a year just by playing for the Windies. The good ones, can rake in well over a million.

Look at other countries, their guys play the domestic competitions always. Here, it's just darren bravo who showed intent by playing domestic competitions. We need more like him, and th what is going to get our cricket forward.

Joseph can benefit by playing along side holder, taylor and roach. Paul can use gayle's experience to learn. Springer would do well to spend time with sarwan, chanderpaul, bravo and co.

But sponsors do not want to sponsor just for pride as per the CEO.

Take it or leave it makes it easy as they had left it. Series of retirements and no shows. Even Holder who was denied the PCL participation is just at home resting his legs. Does not help anyone

Sponsors sponsor for potential returns and positive value to their brand. Ask any of the companies who sponsor national teams, athletes, etc. The objective is to get visibility for the company, and if the team is depleted, or the athlete doesn't perform, sponsors pull the plug. Does mrf still give lara and sachin money, after they retired and stopped batting in front of millions? Go figure.

If the players choose to leave it, it's their call. They can retire, and go to the leagues. As far as I am aware, the wicb has never denied anyone an noc to play anywhere they have wanted to. But then, don't come and expect to walk into the west indies team.

Let the board get players who are willing to play for pride, for their country and make their money in the process. And during off season, ply their trade in whatever leagues they choose to play in. There are so many now anyways
