After much speculation as to where the finals of the 2016 Hero Caribbean Premier League T20 tournament will take place, news coming to hand is that it will go South to Guyana this time around.

Guardian Media was reliably informed that the government of Guyana has outdone the governments of T&T and Barbados in a three-way bid to host the finals on August 7. Guyana will also host both semi-finals which will take place at Providence Stadium.

According to a source close to the Guyana government, the deal has been struck and it will be made public in a few days time. The source did not give particulars about the agreement between the parties, but the CPL organizers were asking for US$4.5M (G$932.4million) for the award of the final-four.

Governments fighting each other to give a private company $4.5 to use their own facilities, absurd.

That represents $225,000 retainer each for a 20 man squad, more than enough funding for the 90 players the new MOU trying to fix.

It shows why a caricom solution will not work as each government acts out of self interest.

Confirmed, a lot of money for 3 days of cricket, said to be larger than annual budget allocation.

CPL feels that Barbados has the ideal infrastructure to sell their "economic benefits to the region" spin, but B'dos government don't see the value added from paying CPL.

The CPl would always go to whoever is paying them more.
Pity the BIM gov't couldn't see it, or maybe just couldn't afford it.
One thing though having the finals in Guyana will be great.
We already see the amount of Guyanese show up for the CPL games, and there haven't been nuff In'tl cricket played there in a while
