The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) will now be known as Cricket West Indies (CWI), this according to president of the board Dave Cameron.
The board has also decided to form a corporate entity to deal with the financial aspect of the cricket and this company will be named Windies. According to Cameron, “At this point in time we are no longer called the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) but Cricket West Indies and we have also formed a company to deal with the commercial matters of West Indies cricket and this is called Windies. We continue to explore ways to take West Indies cricket forward and this rebranding is necessary as we move along.”
Cricket West Indies (CWI) now falls in line with Cricket Australia (CA), Cricket New Zealand (CNZ) and Cricket South Africa (CSA) all of whom have rebranded themselves for marketing purposes.
Cameron, who has moved WICB’s finances from the red and into a profit in difficult financial times is optimistic for the future finances of the board.

As a company what are the assets the new entity owns and who or what earns these assets if any?
BTW, this move is only cosmetic.
....................
Cricket West Indies bring nothing substantial to the corporate table...invest at your peril...junk bonds at this time.

He moved it from Red To Black.
That's significant. Very significant.
Just saying....

Well following England, Australia and NZ in "rebranding" is ok, but what is required is adopting their managerial style and structure.
You can change the name, but the structure is the same therefore this is no change at all.
The change that is needed is for the complete and total dismantling of the entire WICB and its personnel.
A pig with lipstick is still a pig.

The recent financial improvement in the WICB's books have nothing to do with the financial exploits or wizardry of its President nor any strategic imperative that was implemented...it coincided with more money for the Indian tour to the subcontinent which is cyclical as well as greater cash inflows from the ICC for our support for the BIG three.
What is needed is structural change which brings about policy change.

If you follow the trend in the WICB finances and the scheduling of tours then you will understand there is a strong correlation.
...nothing to do with the financial wizardry of the WICB.
Btw, if the WICB brand was such a good product and the financial outlook looked good, investors and sponsors would be lined up for miles begging for a piece of the pie.

There you go, POINT. Mission accomplished.
Yes, your hard work has finally paid the dividends you unrelentingly sought. Commendation to us too for having to put up with you over your ageless campaign, but as the old adage asserts, all's well that ends well.

You are not giving Dave credit for closing the HPC and suspending A Team tours for a while. Where are those satellite academies btw?

I will give credit to the WICB for taking these decisions above which are inimical to the best interests of West Indies cricket.
We are yet to see the implementation of the satellite academies which were successfully negotiated under the
CPL agreement by Dr. Ernest Hilaire.

One thing you have to say about Mr Dave Cameron. He has left a mark. Most talked about President ever in the good and bad stakes.

THANK YOU , I HOPE THE BIG IDIOTS WILL
READ YOUR POST .
This is simply Smoke & Mirrors Folks ;
it is exceedingly Asinine . The Worst International Cricket Board in the Commonwealth , commissioned several Reports :
WERE THERE ANY SIGNIFICANT CHANGES
IN THE STRUCTURE OF THE WICBC ???
Was there a change in the WICBC's
attitude towards its EMPLOYEES ????
ONLY BIG IDIOTS WILL BELIEVE THAT
THE WICBC IS GOING TO IMPROVE ITS
ABYSMAL RECORD , BY THESE COSMETIC
CHANGES .

Totally agree with you. What if any structural managerial changes will occur?
Anyone can change their name doesn't mean squat.
If they mimic even 20% of what CSA or whoever in the first year of operations I'll be very surprised.
I'm guessing the unofficial head of "Windies" will be Mr. Grave seeing his background is in commercial marketing?
And Mr. Cameron could remain in his role as head of Cricket West Indies. I'm wondering how selection to the board will occur now?

THE TRUTH IS THAT THERE AINT NOTHING
TO CELEBRATE ABOUT .
Elsewhere in this Forum I have already cited the fact that changing
the name is merely cosmetic .
The Big Idiots are still going to be Dysfunctional ; Incompetence ; Arrogant ; Egotistical & Not Transparent ; Not Accountable & bluntly refuse to exercise Good Governance .
Now what I have cited above & the very fact that they bluntly refuse to change their 1929 Structure , are reasons why they cannot attract Financial Sponsors lining up at their
Door .
Now it is ONLY Big Idiots will keep
their modus operandi the same despite the fact that they are Running very fast , yet find themselves in the same freaking Place .

the Management style and structure may leave a lot to be desired and could do with some improvement, but the fact that Cricket West Indies as it is now called is profitable is a significant achievement that cannot be ignored, Kudos to the team for this, next step is to improve player board relations as quickly as possible

When I initially stated some years ago that it should be rechristened
CRICKET WEST INDIES , LET ME BE
CRYSTAL CLEAR . THAT MEANT THAT
TRANSFERRING THE NAME WICBC TO
CRICKET WEST INDIES WITHOUT SERIOUS
STRUCTURAL CHANGES IN THE ENTITY IS
NOTHING MORE THAN AN ATTEMPT TO
AGAIN BAMBOOZLE THE PEOPLE IN THE
REGION .
What the WICBC has done , as I have repeated stated in this Forum is
PUTTING A BAND AID ON A CORROSIVE
CANCER . IN A VAIN ATTEMPT TO
AMELIORATE THE STENCH THAT CURRENTLY
EXISTS IN THE WORST INTERNATIONAL
CRICKET BOARD IN THE COMMONWEALTH .
That aint ever going to work ; The
Cancer , which is the WICBC needs to
undergo major Surgery , to Heal .
